She’s here! Our sweet little girl, Garvey, arrived this week, and we’re so grateful. Grateful for this little baby and her incredible brother, grateful for our health, grateful for our home, grateful for our family, friends, and community, and grateful for the endless love we have for one another. Jarrett, as always, was a wonderful partner, encouraging me at every single step. He’s the best father and husband. Together, our new family of 4 (plus Zeke) are in for so many adventures! Cheers! 🥂

He’s made his first journey round the sun, y’all. I’m so grateful to have carried this little being inside of me and to learn so much more about him this past year. He is what his name means, peace and loving-kindness, but he is also curious and smart and vocal and determined. He’s a comedian but also very serious. He’s sweet and fearless. He’s creative and strategic. He’s certainly a little bit of me and a little bit of Jarrett but a lot a bit of himself. He brings so much joy. Happy birthday to my sweet baby. 😭🙏🏾😘

On Saturday, September 19th, I married my best friend. While Covid has transformed our everyday lives, we are fortunate to have family and friends who supported us doing this our way. We had a quiet, intimate ceremony with just the two of us, BUT we live-streamed the whole thing on YouTube for our loved ones to watch. It was different, but exactly what we’d hoped for in order to keep everyone we love safe.
•
I’m so grateful to my husband @jay_hix, my (much larger) family, all of our friends, and an amazing virtual wedding team, who made this all possible.
•
Our wedding planner, @artisanroseeventco, not only gave the ceremony its unique touches, but literally, she was the brains behind the livestream. None of this would have been possible without her.
•
The videographer, @brysong_, created the prerecorded portion that had you all in tears! Book him while you can because he stays busy.
•
My makeup was slayed, y’all!@desireephillipsmua did that and I felt like myself but even more beautiful!
•
My sister @stormlovelybraids_ did my hair TWO DAYS earlier. That’s how good she is! So grateful to have skills in the family.
•
@zephyrfloral designed a bouquet just for me that was unique, non-traditional, and gorgeous. It matched our ceremony both literally and conceptually.
•
If you were able to tune in, our violinist @moorehouseviolinstudio embraced our love for Beyoncé and nearly brought us to tears.
•
This gorgeous and natural photo, and so many that I’ve posted in my stories, are because my East African sister, @alai.photos is the coldest in the game. She made our photoshoot feel easy. Book her!
•
Thank you to @houseofveganfood for not only feeding us so well after our ceremony, but also for letting us borrow Hershal as our officiant. He’s a gem!!

On behalf of the Hicks household, we’re truly grateful. 🙏🏾✨✊🏾 by @taniziamaria

We’re wrapping up the last week of summer before our littles head to school, and it really feels like it flew! Cheers to not doing too much and not doing too little, to new favorite family trips, and to my babies turning into little kids. 🥹 Also, shout out to our favorite President, Barack Obama.

Some homes are renovated. Others are reimagined.

When we purchased this 1927 Oak Cliff home, we saw more than what it was—we saw what it could become. Over the past several years, every decision has been intentional: preserving the character that makes older homes special while creating spaces that feel calm, functional, and ready for modern life.

From restoring its charm to designing an outdoor retreat with lush landscaping and a new pergola, this project has been a labor of love. My favorite part? Proving that historic homes don’t have to sacrifice comfort, and beautiful spaces don’t have to feel untouchable.

Now it’s time for someone else to write the next chapter.

If you’ve been dreaming of Oak Cliff charm, original stained glass, a versatile guest suite, and a home that’s been thoughtfully cared for from the inside out, this might be the one.

Secrets out. What an incredible time to have spent with these little personalities. We learned so much about ourselves and each other.
The short list:
1. We have a very deep appreciation for @jay_hix and we’re so proud of him.
2. We can all do hard things.

We’re on the other side, more resilient, more thoughtful, more connected. by @taniziamaria

I’ve struggled to put together an “about the founder” post because I kept feeling pressure to create the most polished, flawless version of myself. But the truth is, we all know that isn’t real.

At one point, I even considered using an AI-generated professional photo, but nothing felt like me. And the more I sat with it, the more I realized that if I’m building a business centered around creating thoughtful, lived-in spaces for real people, then I should show up as a real person too.

So here I am.

A wife, a mom, a full-time professional, and someone deeply passionate about curating spaces that feel warm, grounded, and deeply lived in. Spaces that support real life while still feeling beautiful and intentional.

I’ve learned that whenever I show up as myself, it always feels better than trying to be anything else.

I’m excited about this journey and grateful you’re here for it. The good, the messy, the beautiful, the evolving… all of it.

This is me. These are my spaces. And there’s so much more to come.

My favorite things. This year and every year.

This year was big for us. New home, new neighborhood, new school, new routines. Lots of change, lots of learning, and somehow we found our rhythm along the way. It felt really good to do it together.

So grateful for my girl. She’s feisty, sweet, and definitely giving Sour Patch Kid energy.

So proud of my boy, who handled the jump from toddler to full-on kid like a champ. Watching him become such a thoughtful, protective big brother has been one of my favorite parts of this year.

And to my forever teammate…ups, downs, and everything in between, no one stands 10 toes down for me like you do. I’m so honored to be your wife.

Here’s to all that’s ahead. Sending love and good vibes to all of you as you keep growing, loving, and doing good in your own lives and communities.

xoxo 🤎🎄🤎
