Every time I’m around these guys, I’m reminded just how valuable time really is.

And when you’re surrounded by men who are building businesses, leading families, chasing big goals, and carrying real responsibility, that couldn’t be more true.

Time is the one thing none of us can make more of. So who you choose to spend it with matters.

This last SVM event was one for the books. Grateful for the conversations, the laughs, and most importantly, the brotherhood.

I spent part of this week at the “How to Get Clients” event, and one story from the room stuck with me.

Vince Lombardi’s team won the Super Bowl. The very next season, he walked into training camp, held up a football in front of a room full of champions, and said, “Gentlemen, this is a football.”

They had just won it all. He still took them back to fundamentals.

That’s the trap in business too. The moment things start working, we assume we’ve graduated past the basics. Revenue climbs, the calendar fills up, and somewhere in there we stop paying attention to the numbers that got us here in the first place.

I see it constantly with founders. Sales are up, the business looks healthy from the outside, and they still can’t tell you with confidence what’s actually driving the growth or what’s quietly eating into it.

Winning doesn’t mean you’re done with the fundamentals. It usually means it’s time to get sharper on them.

N I N E Y E A R S

Nearly a decade has flown by since we said “I DO”.

During that time we’ve ridden the roller coaster up and down and back again..

From uninformed optimism to informed pessimism, walking through our own valleys of despair.

And ultimately getting on the other side to informed optimism.

Clarity and excitement about what the future holds for us.

Marriage + kids is the greatest personal growth environment I’ve encountered.

Perfectly designed to push the necessary buttons and create the right opportunities to learn, grow, and transform.

I couldn’t have picked a better partner to do this with than @thekatewendell , and there’s no doubt that God’s hands are all over this.

I’m not ignorant enough to think we won’t encounter challenges in this future… in fact I know we will.

I also know that we’ve built the foundation to handle anything life throws our way…

And overfilled with love and appreciation for all of the opportunities and experiences ahead of us!

Had a great time connecting with my brother @sergio.nazzaro

Workout + Coffee = Incredible Conversation

Part of our conversation was a recognition of facts we’ve experienced that many men are running their grandfathers’ playbooks.

Clinging to a version of reality that is dissolving as the days march on.

Invisibly controlled by the forces of society that drive them to find their value in performance and production.

Rules created by the Industrial Revolution that still govern, if you let them.

We’ve both lived this.

We’ve both also been very intentional about escaping it and authoring a new version of reality.

We had a raw conversation about the fact that this isn’t easy.

It comes with a lot of questioning and dark night of the soul journeying.

It’s not easy.
We both agreed it’s totally worth it.

As we rapidly head into a future of uncertainty…

I believe a man’s ability to let go of the familiar and step into unknown will be an increasingly valuable super power!

It’s an individual journey, that becomes easier with other brothers walking their own version of the same path.

I’m glad to have Sergio as one of those brothers!

I looked at my wife one night and realized I was sleeping next to a stranger.

We had the storybook wedding. Built a beautiful family. Kids, house, careers.

But inside the fortress we built together, something had died.

The fire we started for each other had turned to cold ash while we were busy building everything else.

We became roommates who shared a bed. Co-parents who managed logistics. But lovers? That felt like a memory.

One day I SAW her. Really saw her the way I used to.

A stranger wearing my wife’s face. And I saw the same recognition in her eyes.

We had a choice.

Let the last ember die and accept that this is just what marriage becomes. Or learn to take the remaining spark and build a bonfire.

Most men choose the first path. They tell themselves the spark is supposed to fade.

They’re lying to themselves.

We chose differently.

It was a daily, intentional, uncomfortable decision to turn towards each other instead of away.

We had to stop hiding in the fortress of family and start building the fire between us.

Slowly. Intentionally. We fanned the flame.

And it worked. Because we refused to accept the lie that the fire has to die.

The fire dies because you stop feeding it.

You stop choosing her. You stop seeing her as a woman and start seeing her as a function.

And she stops choosing you. She stops seeing you as a man.

The fortress becomes a tomb.

Here’s what most men don’t realize: the ember is still there.

Your marriage is not a fortress to hide in. It’s a fire to be stoked.

Brother, you don’t have to settle for the roommate marriage.

You can build a bonfire. Right now. Today.

But you have to choose it. You have to turn towards her, not away.

It’s about the daily choice to see her, pursue her, desire her.

Before she was the mother of your children, she was the woman who set your world on fire. And she still is.

You always have a choice.
