POSTS STORIES REELS

🎙️ We sat down with Jeremy Booth & Catie Cook during their recent exhibition opening receptions, along with curator and collector Ronnie Pirovino, for a conversation on what drives creativity forward, and how external or internal influences can move artists and their works.

“Making, Moving, Shaking” our panel talk on the momentum behind how art takes shape and finds its place, brought together three unique perspectives that invited a broader understanding of the forces connecting artists, collectors, and the world around them.

“The magic unfolds in collaboration with the viewer, who brings their own story, dreams, and experiences. A space emerges where various energies converge, connect, and engage in exchange.” - Pepi Erdbories (@pepiart)

Jean-Paul Donadini creates paintings and mixed-media works that transform the tools and materials of painting into the artwork itself. Known for his celebrated “Brosse Arrêtée” series, Donadini freezes the gesture of a brushstroke in time, combining oversized paintbrushes, dense pigment, draped textiles, and vivid color into sculptural compositions that blur the boundary between painting and object.

For more than four decades, the Paris-based artist has explored movement, materiality, and process through a practice that is both playful and technically refined. His works have been exhibited internationally and are recognized for their bold use of color, physical presence, and inventive approach to contemporary abstraction.

What happens when the process takes over?

For Jonathan Todryk, painting begins with a willingness to relinquish control. Working with raw pigment, oil, water, and other materials, he allows the unexpected to become part of the process, following the natural behavior of each medium rather than working toward a predetermined result.

The resulting compositions are restrained yet rich in detail, with subtle variations in color, texture, and gesture revealing the many layers of his practice.

“Better known for my hyper realistic sculptures, I also like to play with the optical properties of glass. The Mach series is intended to celebrate light, space, and motion. Something I learned from my father working as a stone mason, assembling “simple” elements curated with patience and care can sometimes transcend to become something more than the elements themselves.”- Dylan Martinez (@_dylanmartinez)

Catie Cook is a painter raised in Gainesville, Georgia, whose work draws from the visual culture of the American South, including church pageantry, debutante traditions, and beauty pageants. Influenced by her background as the daughter of a scenic designer, her paintings adopt the language of theater, where drapery, lighting, and composition create scenes that feel both carefully constructed and subtly artificial. Figures and animals are staged within these environments, emphasizing the act of being seen and the tension between presentation and authenticity.

“The bridge between baroque and contemporary art is fascinating to me and I try to create something that reminds the viewer of original frescos but with intuitive parts in it, like the figures, to confront the viewers with their own creativity.” - Paul Kuntze (@paulkuntze_)
