A few of my favorite sequences. Huge thanks to @mitchell_mullins for bringing me on to DP this. It’s not every day you get to pour yourself into a spot that means something to you, and this one celebrates a platform that’s backed filmmakers like us for years. “Beyond This Atmosphere (II)” - an elevated world where our character is cast into her own dreams. Only through letting go does she come to embrace and control the world around her.

So many ideas I wanted to revisit in this piece. Specifically the 3D elements and the play on light and contrast (day/night) : such an incredible crew, great vibes on set, and new ideas for the next one.

A few frames from the @trufru 5K Run spot. Fast setups, a fast and insanely talented crew, and plenty of scrappy problem solving to make each shot count. Loved how nimble this one had to be moving quick, adapting on the fly, and still getting frames we were proud of.

Pulled a few of my favorite frames from Beyond This Atmosphere (II) directed by @mitchell_mullins

Still can’t get over how fun these setups were to concept. Especially our 180 degree rig shot on the Dana. Huge shoutout to the crew for lighting with precision for every VFX plate and reflection. Made this world come alive in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

The sun dropped and we still had one more moment we wanted to get. Instead of wrapping we switched into ES mode and kept shooting.

We were at 4800 ISO in almost complete darkness and the footage still looked clean. No grain creeping in no muddy shadows. It honestly surprised me how much detail we held onto with almost no light around us.

What I really appreciated was being able to trust the sensor and just focus on the feel of the scene. If you’ve been wondering how far you can push the ALEXA 35 in low light this is one of those features that makes a big difference.
