i wasn’t even supposed to be here.

i started DJing in 2017, but stepped away completely 3 years ago during a pretty tough period in my life. earlier this year I decided to give it another real shot.

i almost bailed on this trip multiple times. i haven’t been doing the best financially, and even renting lights and speakers for our campsite felt like money I probably shouldn’t be spending. but something told me to just fucking do it and show up.

then John Summit pulled up to my afters at the campground.

next thing I know we’re going b2b ripping dubstep. he’s commenting on my transitions, hyping me up, and eventually goes “why are we doing a b2b? you’re so good, keep crushing it.” a bit later he’s on top of my RV chugging beers, going hard at my set and pumping up the crowd till we get shut down.

somehow everything led me to this moment. sometimes you take a chance on yourself and life gives you a little reminder that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

i’m just so fucking grateful to be here.

thank you to everyone who came up to me all weekend and told me they loved my sets. that genuinely meant a lot.

and thank you John & the Experts Only team for a weekend I’ll never forget.

never stop betting on yourself.

Today, I turn 32.

Three years ago, I went through one of the darkest periods of my life, and there was a point where I genuinely wasn’t sure I’d make it here.

Three years later, life looks completely different. I’m happy, fulfilled, surrounded by people I love, doing things I’m passionate about, and genuinely excited for everything still ahead.

With September being Suicide Prevention Month, this birthday feels a little more meaningful. Looking back at where I was then and where I am now, I’m just grateful. For the people in my life, the memories I’ve made, the places I’ve been, and all the moments I almost never got to experience.

A lot can change in three years.

I love this little life I live, and I’m grateful I’m still here to live it.

Here’s to 32. ❤️‍🩹 by @tanniix.music
