Maybe growing up is learning which numbers will never answer again.

Not because the connection was never real, but because some things belong to a version of our lives that no longer exists.

Sometimes we call back out of nostalgia, curiosity, longing, or simply because a part of us wonders what it would feel like to hear that voice again.

We revisit old places, old conversations, old versions of ourselves, hoping that somehow, the past might still pick up.

But it doesn’t.

And maybe that’s okay.

Because not everything we lose is meant to be found again. Some chapters are meant to stay where they happened.. in the past, untouched by who we are now.

And I think there is something beautiful about letting the past remain exactly where it belongs, without asking it to come back and become part of our present.

Some calls are worth making once.

Even when nobody answers. And I think that’s what actually teaches us about letting go.
