Rogue Machine Theatre Announces the Inaugural Cohort of the Engine RoomEngine Room Director: Tanya EverettFeaturing: Anushka Shah, Joshua Labata, Kamila Boga, Zen Rame and Nariya DouglasRogue Machine Theatre is proud to introduce the inaugural class of the Engine Room, a new playwright development initiative designed to support emerging writers ages 18–25 who demonstrate exceptional promise but may not yet have access to the mentorship, professional connections, and artistic community needed to launch a career in the theatre.Selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants, this year’s cohort is currently participating in an intensive eight-week program under the leadership of Tanya Everett. Throughout the summer, these writers will develop original one-act plays while working alongside professional directors, actors, and mentors, culminating in a public evening of staged readings on July 19 at 7PM. Tickets are on sale now.🎭 ⚙️The Engine Room was created in response to a clear need within the Los Angeles theatre community: a bridge between youth arts education and professional play development that helps talented young writers find a creative home. Nikki Giovanni said black people are incredibly important to planet earth. ...The LA Black Creators Summit hosted by @supportblacktheatre was phenomenal. So grateful to all who showed up, and showed love.Theater is to me: spirit work. I prepare myself to be a vessel and hold space for generosity and change. Together, we rise. Love actually is everywhere.Grateful to all who housed me, fed me, poured into me. This experience was a true blessing, and I will allow for blessings to pour down! 💕🙌🏽⭐️A couple takeaways:You gotta make your magic: 🪄 take every opportunity to be in flow.You sometimes have to step away from the noise to do so.Life can be everything all at once: expansive and beautiful, and contracting and hard.Keep moving, even when you’re scared.Maybe we do work hard and play hard, but we also rest harder. J’aime Marseille. For years, I’ve dreamed of the south of France. My best friend remembered that it was my honeymoon destination. I would always put it on y vision board!Finally made it!Just gotta find the partner now. :-). You make plans and God laughs. But I’m truly blessed to be traveling in this moment and my heart is full to the brim: Spirit has got me. Full stop. ✨⭐️🙏🏾.Love yourself. Get in your light. Take the compliment. Take the trip. Use the good lotion. Take that nap. Be brave. Saw dance here. Communed with spirit. Ate with my lovely companions. Gathered with expats. Sat on the beach. Caught a staged reading in a historic fort!
