POSTS STORIES REELS

I was really hoping to get in some more spooky books this month but it just didn’t happen 😂.

Squeezed in a re read of ACOSF before ACOSH released. So glad I did as there was loads I had forgotten.

Great month for new releases. Threshing day was a big surprise for me as I didn’t expect to like it so much. ACOSH was a surprise in that I felt pretty disappointed after reading it. It definitely should have been released at the same time as the next book as I don’t think it stands so well by itself. Also anyone else rooting for Team Neris after reading?!?!

Washwoman at Rivers End was also a great read. I had pre ordered it for release day but I was in such a reading slump it took a while for me to pick it up. I’m really loving Scottish, gothic, dark settings at the moment (thanks nightshade/daybreak 😂)

And The Witch. Perfect spooky season read. I will definitely by picking up more Frieda McFadden in the future 🖤

🌟 Spoiler free review 🌟

So I’m going to be honest, this was not my favourite SJ Maas book by a stretch. It felt a lot like a filler book to me and maybe that’s the point…to build up to what the next one will be. I know SJM said they were all meant to be read as one big volume so maybe my opinion will change after the next release.

It took a while to get into. The writing felt a bit different and I struggled with the amount of POVs. It also felt very repetitive at times. By half way through though I felt as if it had found its stride.

I was expecting a big cliffhanger but I was kinda underwhelmed by the ending. Especially after seeing other people’s reactions.

Of course I’m looking forward to the next one and this one does start to set up for what may happen next.

I would definitely recommend reading Crescent City before this or at least a wrap up of the books if you don’t want to read that series.

Impatiently waiting now for ACOFM 💫 by @tanyas_reading_corner

So excited to be a part of the street team for @hannahlynnwrites. After the hole in my life left by Blood of Truth and Traitors (the only book I read in September as it put me in a major book slump!) I was so excited to hear that Hannah was running a street team for Queens of Themiscyra. An Ancient Greek retelling about Hippolyte, Queen of the Amazons. My review will be coming soon! 💚🇬🇷🏛️ by @tanyas_reading_corner

Frieda Mcfadden’s The Witch

The Witch was my first Freida McFadden book but it definitely won’t be the last .
I decided to bump it up my tbr as it was relatively short and seemed perfect for spooky season.
This book had me hooked. It was definitely very spooky in parts…anyone who knows me knows I am terrified of ghosts 😂. There was mystery, spooky vibe, a bit of romance and a creepy old house .
The story follows a dual PoV of Julia and Caroline and it had the perfect balance of them both. A lot of times I feel like I want more of one character but this worked perfectly for me. Julia has come to stay at Pemberton house with her gram after she looses her job. While she’s there she experiences strange and spooky phenomena and investigates the history of her ancestor Caroline who was accused of witchcraft in the 1600s.

A great spooky read for October, I consumed this in under 24hours; and I will definitely be checking out some more of Frieda’s books!

Threshing Day review.
If I’m being honest I wasn’t as excited as most people about this book but wow was I wrong. Immediately after finishing I just want to dive straight back into Fourth Wing but unfortunately by tbr doesn’t have time for rereads 😂.

Each mini story follows the main side characters as they start Threshing day. It gives such a deep and emotional insight into many of them in such a short story. It is also very easy to read as each character’s story is around 20 pages long.

I even cried at one point, which to pull me in so emotionally in such a short space of time was not what I expected.

There are spoilers for the main books but it does clearly identify these on each section.

Overall a really great read that I definitely would recommend 🐉 also the artwork is 10/10! by @tanyas_reading_corner
