A place of presence, where thought slows and hand remembers by @tao_architect

When given the opportunity to design on a multi level site like this, we think of dialectical contrast entity. where the permanence of concrete signifying rationality and structural honesty, engages in dialogue with the ephemeral warmth of wood.

A contrast between heaviness against lightness, opacity against transparency, compression giving way to release as one traverses the concrete path toward the sheltered entrance. The interplay of light across textured concrete surfaces animates the static volumes, rendering time visible through changing shadows that contrast with the surrounding vegetation, transforming the house into both instrument and vessel for embodied experience. by @tao_architect

A sensitivity to ephemera, the awareness of impermanence, and imperfections. The facade from marble and gold inlay is a kind of physical expression of the spirit of mushin.

Mushin is often literally translated as “no mind,” but carries connotations of fully existing within the moment, of non-attachment, of equanimity amid changing conditions. The vicissitudes of existence over time, to which all humans are susceptible, could not be clearer than in the breaks, the knocks, and the shattering to which depicted in marble too is subject.

A compassionate sensitivity, or perhaps identification with, outside oneself.

Reflecting on a rewarding collaboration from last year. We were honored to work with @pt.alexindo @alexindo.fg @aluvistabystarmas @alconcept.id to bring their PIK 2 showroom to life.

The volumetric skylight enhances the products' finishing and interiority with natural daylight. Meanwhile, the product placement was designed as a centerpiece, inviting and guiding visitors through an interplay of light and shadow.

Nestled within a centuries old forest, Uluwatu, Indonesia, the Kitkat house is envisioned as 3 overlaping boxes that gently follow the existing topography. Hidden between the adjacent forest to form a new place for contemplation.

The concrete underneath act as an anchor for the site, giving structural integrity and resistance to weathering, combine with a mass teak wood structure on the second and third floor.

The house partially sunken into the ground to visually blend into its surroundings. While the timber structure on the third floor is cantilevered to offer expansive view to the sea.

The house was built around 1980. The existing interior space is very eclectic combination between the Tylorean style with wooden ceiling and balconies and in contrast the embellishments on the wall going from French neo-classicist to Parisian, and later house extention become typical modern vernacular architecture.

We respect the history of the house by finding the most esential and unique elements of the building then we use simple elements to highlight those historical qualities

Dorean House Elegantly set in the beautiful landscape, on the border of a working farm in Solo. Respectfully blends with nature and long suspended roof protects from heat throughout the day.

A private residence, built using Balinese vernacular tradition and ways of life. The house developed by pursuing the cosmological orientation and balance.

We believe not only human, but our design for this house can also intertwine the harmonious relationship with; other human beings, nature, and God.

For example by careful placing wooden pilotis form a compression and expansion of space, providing a sense of openess and connecting other social and nature elements, while maintain intimacy.
