Last weekend I had the pleasure of hosting a group of female trail runners on behalf of @visitisleofwight, showcasing my absolute favourite home trails, with us staying at the lovely @tapnellfarmaccommodation! This is what we got up to 💓 Thanks to all involved to make this happen!

Your next day off could look a little like this… 🍂

A morning of movement, an afternoon beside the lake, good food and a little time to switch off. All surrounded by the beautiful West Wight countryside.

Autumn is a wonderful time to find a little space for yourself at Tapnell Farm.

Start with a game of Padel or Pickleball with friends, or ease into your Friday with a yoga class with Vicki.

Then head down to the lake, where @slomo_wellbeing is all about slowing the pace. Wood-fired saunas, steaming Dutch hot tubs, a refreshing lake dip or the invigorating chill of the cold plunge. Take your time, enjoy the contrast and simply be in the moment.

Stay a little longer for lunch, dinner or a drink at The Cow. Or head out for a walk along the beautiful West Wight coastline, with no particular rush to get anywhere.

And if you're not quite ready to go home, why not make a night or two of it? Our farm stays offer more time to disconnect from the everyday and reconnect with nature. Think peaceful mornings surrounded by countryside, fresh air, spectacular West Wight sunsets and quiet evenings with nowhere else you need to be. Time to put your phone away, enjoy the little moments and simply switch off.

A few hours to yourself, a day with friends or a whole weekend away. However you choose to spend it, sometimes it's the simple things that feel the best.

What does a perfect day at Tapnell Farm look like? 🌿

We asked Tom Turney, one of our partners who lives here on the farm with his family, to share his idea of the perfect day. And, as you might expect, it's a lovely mix of farm life, family time, West Wight adventures and a little relaxation.

From slow mornings over breakfast outside a Modulog, to making the most of the early Farm Park access for staying guests with Vic and their two little ones, Rapha and Lola. Plenty of playtime for the children, a proper flat white from the Coffee House for the grown-ups, and no need to rush off anywhere.

Then perhaps a few hours exploring the beautiful West Wight, with Freshwater Bay, Colwell and Totland among Tom's favourite places to visit, before heading back to the farm for the afternoon.

And that's one of the things Tom loves most about Tapnell. There's so much to enjoy right on your doorstep, particularly with young children, without spending half the day in the car. Equally, there's no pressure to fill every moment.

An afternoon might mean more adventures, or simply heading back to the Modulog to relax for a while. Then it's burgers at The Cow, a West Wight sunset and an evening under the stars in the hot tub.

And while Tom's perfect day is shaped around life with two young children, there's plenty of inspiration for couples, friends and families alike.

As Tom puts it:

“You can do loads, or you can do very little. I think the best days usually end up being a bit of both.”

A little time on the mat with Vicki 🧘‍♀️🌿

Whether you're local to the Island or enjoying a stay with us at Tapnell Farm, why not join Vicki for a yoga class?

Just around the corner from the farm, at her peaceful garden studio, Yoga with Vicki offers a welcoming space to slow down, move, breathe and reconnect.

Vicki is already three weeks into her Root to Crown - Yoga for the Whole Woman course, a journey exploring the connection between body, breath and mind through yoga, meditation, functional movement, breathwork and restorative practices.

And the best part is, you don't need to be signed up for the full course to join in! Drop-in classes are £15, making it a great addition to your stay or something to look forward to in your weekly routine. And despite the course name, men are very welcome too!

Vicki was also recently featured in The Island magazine by @spencewillardiw, sharing her yoga journey, approach to teaching and connection to the Isle of Wight. A wonderful opportunity to get to know a little more about her and her work. Be sure to pick up a copy and have a read! 🤍

Your sign to take your dog to the Isle of Wight 🐶🤍

We travelled to the Isle of Wight with @redfunnelferry, and the whole process couldn’t have been easier. We drove on to the ferry from Southampton and were there in an hour! ⛴️ Ad

For accommodation, I don’t think you can beat @tapnellfarm. There’s so much to do on site, including The Cow restaurant, the aqua park, padel and tennis, plus a range of accommodation options to suit everyone 🙌

We absolutely loved the Isle of Wight and would love to go back and explore more of the island

Last weekend I had the absolute pleasure of holding a female trail weekend at @tapnellfarm @tapnellfarmaccommodation on behalf of @visitisleofwight with @redfunnelferry! As a Caulkhead (third generational islander!) I may be biased, but I think we have some of the most beautiful trail running in the UK! I just had to plan a route incorporating the Tennyson Trail (my absolute fav!), but also a nice coastal segment to showcase the stacks and beautiful coast along from Freshwater Bay to Compton Bay, continuing to our lunch stop at @isleofwightpearl where the tide even allowed a section on the actual beach 🌊! We had a mix of abilities and even some totally new to trail running, everybody did so well and it was such a special weekend to be involved with. After the run we had some R&R at one of my island favourites @slomo_wellbeing sauna/ice/hot tub 🧊🌡️, having our dinners at @thecowtapnellfarm - which I was happily surprised to have great vegan options too 🌱 , a special mention to the waffle 🧇 at dessert 😋!! I’ve ran these trails so many times and dreamed of doing something like this, so thank you to Visit Isle of Wight for the opportunity, and the girls for being such great company 🥰 Kira couldn’t quite finish the trail run on the Saturday, so we headed back out Sunday morning in the beautiful mist for a flatter, less technical route, as she was determined to hit the distance goal of the day before! 👊🏼🙌🏼 I then spent the afternoon spectating the @rydeharriers IOW marathon after, which goes by where we were staying, a brilliant weekend!! Another massive thank you to all the local companies I’ve tagged above, which made it possible! A little time for yourself this November… 🍂

October Half Term on the farm 🍂

Slow mornings, autumn days and cosy evenings - with plenty to keep the whole family busy without having to venture far from your stay.

Wake up on the farm, head straight into @tapnellfarmpark for a day of indoor and outdoor fun, meet the animals, get competitive over Padel, Pickleball or Football & Frisbee Golf, then slow things down with some lakeside sauna time at @slomo_wellbeing or delicious food at @thecowtapnellfarm

There’s a little extra happening for Half Term too, with Halloween-themed crafts, activities and Boo-Mania on 27 & 29 October at the Farm Park, plus Thursday Bingo Nights at The Cow (18+).
