It’s been a tough year, so as a last minute decision we decided to take off for a week. My husband had a gap in his roster, kids are on school holidays and I asked work a favour.
A week in Phuket was just what we needed before our son starts his year 12 exams. We explored, snorkelled, zip lined, hiked and relaxed. The kids even did an hour of studies every day. Our dear daughter needs more rest, but managed to keep up with everything we had planned as long as she had a chance to have extra breaks.
It was an excellent getaway for the whole family + a bonus teen.

Coming in to Wagga Wagga. Neither of us had been here before and we only spent two nights due to work commitments calling us back. It was nice though seeing a town we hadn’t seen before. Further inland in Australia than I’ve ever been before, I have to admit. Despite the extreme heat, we didn’t mind Wagga Wagga at all. The council obviously put a lot of effort into the public spaces. Beautiful parks, very nice library and a great aquatic centre is just part of what you can find here. They even have a very popular beach at the Murrumbidgee river.

The Australian countryside is beautiful, whether it’s dry or lush. We drove 460km from Sydney and saw some areas that obviously had some of the recent rain storms, and some areas that had none....
There were a mix of green and brown. There were dry creeks.
I always try to imagine how it would be living here 100 years ago. It’s a harsh, unforgiving, beautiful place.
Mother Nature has shown how harsh she can be the last week. 46C (115F) the last couple of days....

How bad is it when you can’t remember where a photo was take?!
I know when this photo was taken, about 9 years ago, but do you think I can remember the place?? 🤔 anyone else have this problem?

Anyone else have friends like this? 😂
I meet up with one of my closest friends almost every week for a coffee and maybe a meal. It might just be half an hour, it might be a couple. Sometimes we even go grocery shopping together and chat while we walk up and down the isles, because that is all we have time for. We both have kids, both deal with kids’ chronic medical issues. Sometimes we are serious, sometimes we scream with laughter. We are crazy and we keep each other sane.
Most of my friends are really “crazy” in some ways, but how boring would it be if not? 😉 And don’t even get me started on my family...
It’s good to have people that back you up whether they are friends or family.

Can’t believe it’s almost 9 years since this trip to New Zealand with my husband! We had a brilliant day out.
While we live our kids, travel a lot with them and do “anything” for them, it’s also important to remember being a couple. My husband had a shirt trip to Auckland and seeing I had 5 days rostered off, I decided to tag along. I’m lucky that I can occasionally do this, partly thanks to grandparents who are willing to help out.
Other times we go out for dinner, go for a long drive it even send the kids out and stay home.

Never loose sight of real life. Never give up. That doesn’t mean you can’t accept that life turned out differently to what you expected it to be, but don’t give up on life. We all have our ups and downs, some have more downs than others...
It’s getting up again that shows how strong you are. Sometimes you may stumble and stay down for a bit longer than other times, that is alright as well...as long as you get up again. (I had saved this to my photos a few years ago)
