Hi! I'm Tara and I'm a lot...in the best ways.

Whether you just got here or you have been following me for a while, you might notice that I seem to be all over the place. I am 😏

For a long time, I believed that I needed to be one thing to be considered a professional or real or to be taken seriously. I thought I needed one tidy job title that would make it easy for everyone to understand what I do. The closest I came to this was when I was a schoolteacher for 10 years. But even then I was always doing other things next to my "real job" Things like:

- facilitating anti-discrimination workshops
- tour-guiding US teens and teachers through Europe
- training to become a Veto-Trainer and applying this approach to my work
- mentoring colleagues and youth
- co-facilitating outdoor & experiential projects
- translation and language teaching

I often felt like all of this busyness meant I was never good enough at any one thing. What I know today is this:

Never in my life could I just follow the straight, narrow and given path. Sometimes due to circumstances I didn’t choose and was forced to work around. Other times this was because I am a seeker, a deep feeler, a questioner, and a forever learner. I care deeply about people, and I want to know how we can all be more of who we truly are and experience validation and belonging for it. Wherever we are and whatever we are doing. I believe there are many paths and ways of doing and being. I think the world needs us to open doors to these pathways for each other, to embrace diversity on all levels so that we can ALL learn, grow and contribute in ways that suit each of us and support the whole. I see transformation as core to life and I am here to support individuals in personal, professional and team transformation processes.
Because the personal is the universal and the private is political. It’s all connected.

Everything I have learned, trained and offer is also all connected. It's rooted in my love for humanity and shared dignity that motivates my critical thinking, questioning and creativity. I bring all of who I am, my lived experience and tools to everything I do.

Was willst du über meine Arbeit und mich wissen?

Was weißt du, was andere wissen sollten?

I love this about me! 😍

I love to shine, but don't love too shiny.

I'm a brilliant, whole-human-hot-mess. Imperfect and big-hearted. No less professional, but kinda low bullshit, you know? 😁

Trotzdem: Ich bin bereit und will der Welt endlich sagen, was ich mache und wie es bei mir so ist. Hier meine Bitte:

✨️ Was willst du über meine Arbeit endlich wissen?

💜 by @taradawnhawk

Being who we are and bringing it to any role is as important as the skills and methods. It makes all the difference and it is how I work in any context.

I loved being the #moderator for the Network Meeting for Partners of the Postcode Lotterie hosted in Berlin!

The theme was TRUST and it is what I felt when my dear friend @lisa_jaspers whole-heartedly recommended me for the job and Hannah Ziegler trusted me to be the best fit! ❤️

The day was full of connection, lightness and fun. Which is a huge achievement for something called a networking event - especially one for people representing organizations doing vital work for our common civil society that often feel pitted against one another when it comes to funding. It means a lot to me personally to have contributed to creating and holding a space for their increased connection, mutual support and collaboration!

Trust is also what has to be quickly and continuously cultivated by and given to a moderator I am grateful for the trust that all of the participants gave to me on this day.

More of this, please!

You already have permission to try.

That which you long to do.

The things you think are for "other people".

What you secretly know you are or would be great at.

What you would love to grow into.

Here's your permission (that you don't actually need 😉).

What is that thing?

So effing proud of myself. 💥

I have been showing up and saying yes, scared, to so many things I have been longing to do for such a long time.

I was afraid to step into a bigger, more powerful version of myself. To take up space and own my gifts and desires fully. To say out loud: Yep, it's ME, I can do it!

It is hard as hell to become what was never clearly laid out for you. It often requires learning while doing and lovingly caressing your inner critic.

Lately, life and grief are teaching me to release my grip on staying small. Life is too short for that crap. And I would rather be seen trying and sometimes flopping than to keep holding everything in. It's also the opposite of everything I stand for for everyone else.

Yeah, I'm one of those who gives amazing advice I struggle to take. 🤷🏽‍♀️

So this is my face on the way home from the kick-off of my Train the Trainer program. The one I am giving. Because I finally decided I could. 💜

Oh, and I started believing everyone who believes in me. 💞

How are you allowing yourself to become?

Cheers to more love songs for sisters 💕

She changed my diapers, introduced me to MTV when it came out, and gave me carpet burns when she was pissed off and tired of babysitting me and our little brother, and she was my Latin teacher in high school for one year 😬 #truestory.

So grateful for my soror, my sissy, Sarah Jane! We got to spend a special weekend together in London.

The sweetest yet. 💗

New substack is up.

This piece was deeply embedded in my heart and my body. It has taken almost two years and digging deep on courage to continue and finish writing it.

Although I am it's official author, many people played an important role helping me unearth my thoughts and feelings. And most importantly, my voice. Thank you to each and every one of you. You know who you are. ❤️

This goes out to my fellow truth-tellers, deep feelers, those who see what is not being said. Anyone who has ever believed they needed to stay small and quiet in order to belong. To anyone who has ever dared speak up only to discover deeper self-belonging. And, of course, to all who long to do so.

This is also for you.

This is also professional ✨️

When I began growing into conflict mediation, I knew I wanted our working space to be cosy, comfortable, and a space for rekindling (re)connection. A space that feels light when the work feels heavy.

What do you think? by @taradawnhawk

Last night, I got an infusion of connection and belonging, so sorely missed and needed. 🫶🏽

I came for the boodle fight and stayed much longer than I planned because the community connection pulled me in. 💜

Maraming salamat mahal na mga pinsan for embracing me (even when the lolas greet me by telling me how very little Filipina I look lol 😅).

Salamat Kuya G @beatempowerment for insisting I belong and reminding me of how we embody and live kapwa.

1. Pinans reunite: Tara & Kuya G
2 & 3. Kain Tayo from @pinoyfoodberlin
4. Incredible Ube cake roll from @jillidarling So sarap!!
5. Karaoke turned group singing and dancing aka pamilya 😍
6. Araw Araw - Kuya G's gift for the community and this copy for gifted to me 🥹😭🫶🏽
