This series is etched onto my heart, and has been since I read it for the first time 3 years ago. This series has such a rich fantasy world unlike any other that I have encountered. With its steampunk Pride and Prejudice feel and visuals straight out of a Studio Ghibli movie, I fell in love immediately. It deals with the topics of self discovery, the feeling of being scared and alone, and has a plot that is truly unique. It has the most pure love story that will make your heart ache. It is a true slow burn that spans the entire series but has moments that will make you swoon, for example here is one of my favorite quotes from the series out of the third book, โ€œThe Memory Of Babelโ€. โ€œThe world instantly ceased to be a word and became skin. The gentle shadows of mosquito nets, the lapping of the rain, the distant sounds of the garden and the city, none of all that existed anymore for Ophelia. All that she was acutely aware of was Thorn and herself, their hands unfastening, one by one, every restraint, every apprehension, every fear. Ophelia had spent these last three years feeling empty. She was, at last, replete.โ€ The ending to this series is a little controversial, I will warn you, it has an open ending that not everyone is a fan of. I, however, think it made the series all the more memorable and gut wrenching. I think if you go into this with the expectation of a fantasy story where the romance takes a back seat, but still somehow is still a large focus and the catalyst for everything that follows, you will love it too. When I first read it, I took things very slow, taking a month and a half to really immerse myself and spend time with the plot, characters, and world. I encourage you to do the same, this is a book I wish everyone could read and enjoy. Iโ€™ve chased the feelings this gave me ever since. ๐Ÿท๏ธ #bookstagram #booksbooksbooks #bookworm #themirrorvisitor #awinterspromise #fantasybooks #fantasyreader #booklover #reading #readreadread #reader #readersgonnaread #readersofinstagram #readmorebooks by @tarynns.library

When done right Mystery is one of my favorite genres to read. Not thriller, mystery. I went through a thriller phase back in 2021 but soon realized when I read the Truly Devious series that mystery has been what I wanted all along! I added The Thursday Murder Club to my tbr thinking it would be just another cute mystery but boy was I wrong, Iโ€™m not exaggerating when I say this series has changed my life. Letโ€™s start with one of my favorite things about Richard Osmanโ€™s writing, the banter. Each book is brimming with quick witted, hilarious banter. I was laughing out loud almost every page. Itโ€™s not for everyone but it is my perfect kind of humor! Donโ€™t let the funnies fool you though, while this series is light hearted, it also has some heavier topics that are touched on. Letโ€™s get serious for a sec, Iโ€™ve had a real struggle with being afraid of death and growing old and these books tackle just that. They gave me an entirely new perspective on aging, one that has me more optimistic towards my later years than I once was before! Lastly, the friendships are so pure, true, and deep that they feel like your friends too. Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron, Ibrahim, Bogdan, Donna, and Chris are written in a way that itโ€™s almost baffling that they are not my real friends. Iโ€™m so excited to read more of their shenanigans in future books in the series, I canโ€™t imagine life without these characters! Check this series out, Iโ€™m serious, it changed me for the better and I already want to do a reread. Iโ€™m having withdrawals!! ๐Ÿท๏ธ#bookstagram #bookcommunity #bookish #booktok #booktube #richardosman #thethursdaymurderclub #cozymystery #cozymysterybooks #instabooks #instareads #instagram #readersofinstagram #readersgonnaread #readmorebooks by @tarynns.library
