Hi, I’m Tash 👋

After 25+ years working in marketing and media, I started rethinking the idea that a career has to be just one job.

These days I’m building what’s often called a portfolio career, combining my corporate work with other projects I love.

One of those is travel.

Through Tash’s Tailored Travel, I help people plan unforgettable trips and activities, and I also mentor others who are curious about building a flexible travel business alongside their existing work and life.

Or should it say, what I actually do…

I have a travel business alongside my corporate career.

But that means two quite different things.

✈️ I help people travel.
I plan and book holidays, cruises, city breaks, bigger adventures and all the bits in between.

💼 I help people build something of their own.
I mentor people who are curious about starting a flexible travel business alongside their existing work, family and life.

For me, it’s part of a much bigger shift towards a portfolio career; combining my main career with things I enjoy, that give me flexibility, creativity and an additional income stream.

And no… I didn’t quit my job.

I don’t think work has to be one thing anymore.

Ever wondered what the travel business side actually looks like? ✈️

I didn’t start this because I wanted to leave my career.

Quite the opposite.

I wanted something I could build alongside it.

Something involving travel (which I already loved), that gave me another income stream, introduced me to a completely different community and could fit around work, family and real life.

So what do I actually do?

✈️ I earn commission from travel bookings
🌍 I can book my own travel too
💼 I build it alongside my corporate career
🤝 And I help other people who are curious about doing the same

Some people simply want to earn from booking travel. Others want to build a bigger business and team.

There’s no one-size-fits-all version.

For me, it’s become another part of my portfolio career, alongside marketing, consultancy and the other slightly random things I do. 😂

It won’t be for everyone.

Apparently, we’re all supposed to be slowing down. I’m not sure I want to!

I like having a full life. Friends, family, work, travel, new adventures… and the best bit is, it’s my choice.

A few reminders recently that life can change in an instant. So stop waiting for things to quieten down.

The sad news about Esther Rantzen yesterday got me thinking about something she often seemed to embody so well, making room for fun, laughter and joy.

We can get so caught up in work, family, goals, plans and everything we should be doing that having fun can almost feel like something we have to earn.

It really shouldn’t.

So I’m stealing the spirit of that idea: one thing every day simply because it makes me happy.

Nothing productive. Nothing to improve me. Nothing to tick off a list.

And today’s is particularly easy because @ukthetraitors starts tonight and I am ridiculously excited about it.

Maybe happiness isn’t always about the big things.

Sometimes it’s just making sure there’s something in your day you’re genuinely looking forward to.

And she’s off. We dropped Gabrielle at Cardiff Uni this week and, while it was definitely emotional driving home without her, seeing how excited she was about everything ahead made it a little bit easier.

A new city, new people, new experiences and a whole lot more independence. Hopefully there’ll be plenty of travel and adventures squeezed into the next three years too.

Maybe that’s one of the things I love about travel. It doesn’t really matter whether you’re 18 or 50, there are always new places to discover, new people to meet and something different waiting around the corner.

I made a website. This may not sound particularly momentous, but it’s taken me a surprisingly long time to work out what should actually go on it.

Because apparently my life no longer fits neatly into one box.

I have my marketing career.
I have my travel business.
I book holidays.
I help other people build travel businesses.
I occasionally paint dogs.
I walk them too.
And somewhere amongst all of that, there’s family, friends and actual life.

So rather than pretending I only do one thing, I’ve finally put it all under one roof.
