We exist because too many of our sisters are missing and too few are found. Launched by @girlvow & Founded by Dr. Dawn Rowe @iamdawnrowe_.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Actor and activist Gabrielle Union reminds us that these stories aren’t fiction. They’re happening in our communities every day.

We must shift the narrative: Black girls are not ‘fast,’ not ‘runaways,’ not to blame. They are children. They are loved. They deserve to be found, protected, and believed.

Too many stories of missing and murdered women and girls go unheard.

We’re here to change that. 💜

The Task Force for Missing & Murdered Women and Girls was created after Girl Vow helped champion legislation that passed in 2019, a huge step toward justice and visibility.

Since then, our Task Force has been raising awareness, challenging policy, and rewriting the rules that have failed too many for too long.

🛑 We amplify voices that are too often silenced.
🛑 We advocate for systemic change.
🛑 We fight for every girl who deserves to come home, be seen, and be protected.

We’re pushing for accountability, equity, and the right to live without fear.

We won’t stop until that’s a reality.

Follow along to join us in our mission.

In 2019, we took our first bold step toward justice.

After years of being unheard, overlooked, and unprotected, we introduced and passed legislation to establish the Task Force for Missing & Murdered Women and Girls in New York.

It started with a girl in our community who went missing.

Her story and the stories of so many others pushed us to take action. We knew we couldn’t wait for the system to care. We had to build something ourselves.

Since then, we’ve been
→ Advocating for gender-focused policy
→ Supporting families in crisis
→ Elevating the stories of the missing
→ Challenging systems that fail BIPOC women and girls

This movement is far from over. We continue to fight because every life matters, and no one should be forgotten.

Last year, our community stood with us. This year, we hope you will stand with us again.

At last year’s Annual Candlelight Vigil for Missing and Murdered Women and Girls, we came together in remembrance and in the shared belief that no woman or girl should ever be forgotten.

Every person who showed up helped remind families, survivors, and advocates that they do not have to carry this fight alone. This year, we invite you to stand with us once more.

At last year’s Annual Candlelight Vigil, survivor activist Shadira Nicole Smothers shared why she continues to show up. This vigil is where she finds support, where she knows she is not standing alone, and where she can continue fighting for her sister, Krystal Anderson, who is dearly departed and deeply missed.

Her presence reminds us why this gathering matters. For sisters and families like Shadira, who continue to speak out and fight for justice, and for women like Krystal, whose lives and memories must never be forgotten.

We gather to remember the missing, honor the lives taken, support the families left behind, and demand a world where no woman or girl is overlooked.

Some stories should never have to be told. And no one should have to live them.

Behind these TikTok posts are girls sharing their experiences with abuse, control, fear, and relationships that hurt them. Their stories remind us that abuse is not love, and staying should never come at the cost of your safety.

If something feels wrong, you do not have to wait for it to get worse before taking it seriously. You deserve to feel safe, respected, and free.
To every girl who has lived through abuse, is still living through it, or is afraid to speak up: you are not alone, and what happened to you is not your fault.
If you or someone you know needs help, support is available 24/7:

❤️‍🩹 In immediate danger? Call 911.
❤️‍🩹 NYC 24-Hour Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-621-HOPE (4673)
❤️‍🩹 Girl Vow CRiS Hotline: 833-444-7586

You deserve safety. You deserve support. And you do not have to face this alone.

This is a moment to remember those who are missing, honor those we have lost, and demand that missing women and girls receive attention before it is too late.

Every name is a life. Every family deserves answers. Every woman and girl deserves to be searched for, seen, and heard.

Bring a loved one, a neighbor, a friend, or a colleague. All are welcome. Come stand with the families who are still waiting, and light a candle in their honor. 🕯️

Please share this post so no one who wants to attend misses it.

A mother until her last second.

Nathaly Ramirez protected her baby with her last breath. Police say there were four domestic incident reports. She deserved safety, not a candlelight vigil.
