We’re not bartenders, but we know these are fire. 😮‍💨

When we dropped Like Summer, the goal was simple: present all the things coffee can be and give you a real companion for those long, sunny days. Whether you’re on the golf course sippin’ The John Lynch, or catching golden hour with a Carajillo, lazy and sweaty with that special someone, we wanted to shake up the ritual a bit.

Now, we’re pausing the tape for a hot second to check in with the community.

Which one have you tried yet? Which one are you feeling thus far? Which one have you been mixing up at home for the homies while y’all are chillin?

And because we love y’all, we want to hear from y’all.

1. What are you loving?
2. What are you not feeling?
3. How can we improve going forward?

Drop us a line in the comments.

…And whatever y’all got planned for the summer, be safe and keep the vibes going. taken in Washington D. C. by @tastcoffeeco

The Dude drinks a white Russian.
So we thought we’d build one that Frank Lucas might order.

House coffee liqueur first — cognac cold-steeped overnight with coarse Like Summer, then sweetened with demerara. Pour it over ice. Stir in some more cold brew on top. Finish it with a little 3:2:1 orange cold foam and orange zest floated over the surface so the first sip is citrus oil, the second is coffee on coffee, and the rest is the cognac doing what cognac does in cool rooms, when the weather’s warm.

Sophisticated. Not serious about it.

This is foam architecture — egg white whipped tight, demerara doing the work that simple syrup can’t, lemony vermouth cutting through the cold brew so it lands as bright as anything you’d build with whiskey.

A few coffee beans as garnish. Or perfect it with Angostura on top that finishes the sentence if you’re good with the slightest proof: three drops, feathered with a toothpick, a small piece of bar craft that takes one camera-side practice run.

Shout out to @moresavorygoods on IG for the inspiration on this one. You can drink five of these and drive home. No chance you’re sleeping when you get home. That’s the point. Sobriety doesn’t have to be austerity around here. Get elevated without getting lifted.

Scandinavians made this drink. Australians made it famous. Now you can find it in cafés and bars rom Reykjavík, to Melbourne, to Mt. Pleasant.

The build is the shot: tonic over ice, then cold brew floated over the back of a spoon. For ten or fifteen seconds the glass holds two layers. Then it doesn’t.
Drink it through the stack, then through the swirl, then through the bottom where the bitter and the bittersweet have become one. A little citrus oil to perfect the dance on your tongue.

The gear we use to craft that daily cup has come a long way. If you ever saw our group text, you’d know it’s a non-stop flood of beautiful brewing equipment and serveware nerdery.

Because honestly, coffee is the ultimate life companion, but the magic is in the details. What’s the point of brewing a masterpiece if you’re drinking it out of something lame?

I (Reggie) just got back from Greece, where I skipped the modern hype for traditional vibes. I stumbled into a local serveware shop so gorgeous I practically wanted to move in.

While there, I tried the famous Freddo Espresso—but fair warning: that sugar level is a hazard if you’re Black and diabetes runs in your family. taken in Filóti, Kikladhes, Greece by @tastcoffeeco

Mexico City, a bar, late afternoon. Someone orders a carajillo and the table calibrates— vanilla, citrus, the Licor 43 doing its quick step with a hot espresso pull.

We took the heat out. Same liqueur, same idea, but the cold brew sits where the espresso would and the build becomes longer, less urgent. A slow dance to Erykah Badu.

It’s the carajillo that lingers. The one you take your time with on a tile patio in July, not the one you knock back at the bar.

Full proof and Fool proof. Sip responsibly.

The John Lynch
Coffee lemonade

Every showman has a Lynch pin. Chi Chi had his.
For thirty-some years on tour, while Chi Chi Rodriguez danced the sword dance on the eighteenth green, John Lynch read the lie, called the club, and read the lie again. The bag was the work. The performance was the bag. They had different jobs and one job. That bag man was that man.
This is a drink built like that partnership. Cold brew up top, lemonade underneath, doing the harder thing without asking for it.

If you aren’t part of our email community, you’ll miss all the recipes in this summer run. And you don’t want to do that.

The three of us spend a lot of time talking about what makes a good coffee shop? Is it JUST the coffee, is it a vibe, the music, the furniture, art, staff, retail, cast of cooky characters you encounter when you sit and people watch? Should it be comfortable? Cozy, inviting you to sit all day. Or borderline hostile? They give you a fire cup and invite you to keep it pushing. Sit on that hard ass bench if you want to. But I’m 35 now, can’t afford to linger too long without a cushion. We can all agree that the best one’s don’t have wifi right? The answer(s) is probably all and none of the above. But we’ve been asking that question so much, maybe we should start writing down some of our answers.

Anyway, I (Obi) just got back from Berlin and @kolo.coffeeshop is one I haven’t stopped thinking about.

Hot water through the bed, ice in the server. The whole brew lasts under three minutes and finishes before the aromatics know they’ve been caught.
This isn’t cold brew slowed and steeped — it’s coffee at speed, flash-frozen at the moment of peak expression. What you get is a cup that smells like the roast and tastes like the origin.

Make sure you’re signed up for our newsletter to learn how to make this at home! Sleep on it and you’ll miss the rest of our summer glasses.

Coffee doesn’t really belong in a paper cup. It belongs in something solid, made for the hand—not the bin. Most of the time it’s a mug. A cup made to retain heat. On some cozy shit. But we wanted to make something for the season. A coffee roasted for the sunlight, poured in crystal, in a highball, rocks, or coupe glasses. Bright, bold, and cool as hell, like summer.

So this summer, we are changing how you experience your daily ritual. Inspired by the golden hour light, vintage poolside afternoons, and the clinking of glasses on a warm evening, we’ve reimagined cold brew.

Meet the six unique personalities of our Summer Collection, each poured into the glassware it was destined for.

Like Summer is hot and heavy, sticky sweet, orange cream popsicles, chlorine, sunscreen, dancing in the dark, sweating with strangers, falling in love, fireworks because it’s Tuesday, Juneteenth, Pride, sand in your hair but it was worth it, the island effect, a bird, a bogey, par for the course, jumping in the fountain, all over ice.

Let’s make this fun:
