Next month marks 9 years of @sugotoronto 🥹 And somehow, even after less than a decade, it feels like it’s always been part of Toronto’s food scene 🫂

No reservations, a line out the door, red-checkered tablecloths… Inspired by classic New York red-sauce joints, Sugo serves comforting Italian-American dishes that have earned cult status for a reason 🤞❤️‍🔥

Big shoutout to the spicy chicken parm, we still dream about it 😩😍 by @tastet.ca

It’s hard to talk about pizza in Toronto without mentioning Badiali @pizzeriabadiali ❤️‍🔥

Ryan Baddeley and his team have turned a neighbourhood spot into a citywide obsession, with slices worth lining up for and pies that have become a benchmark for Toronto pizza 😮‍💨🍕

We asked Ryan to share the restaurants he loves most around the city. If anyone knows where to eat, it’s someone who feeds Toronto for a living 🫡 @ryanbaddeley by @tastet.ca

Some people spend their whole career chasing trends. Leandro Baldassarre has spent the last 16 years doing the opposite: preserving tradition by perfecting the art of pasta 🤌🍝

Staying away from trends has never kept him away from success. Ironically, Famiglia Baldassarre has become one of Toronto’s most iconic restaurants. Long before Montréal had Pasta Pooks, Toronto had Famiglia Baldassarre 👀🤭Here too, people line up for a plate of handmade pasta. Because yes, it really is THAT good!!!❤️‍🔥 And after 16 years, some things simply never get old. His craft is one of them.

His story isn’t just about pasta. It’s about family, craftsmanship, and staying true to your vision in a world that’s always asking you to do more. Read more about Leandro’s story on tastet.ca 🫶

This lasagna sells out almost every night. 14 layers of house-made pasta, slow-cooked all-beef bolognese, San Marzano tomatoes, 3 Italian cheeses, and a deeply golden, crispy crust on top that shatters when you break through it. It weighs nearly a pound (!!!) 🤯 Needless to say, this is a legendary lasagna 🤌

It’s the kind of dish people plan their dinner around. But here’s the thing: as incredible as the lasagna is, it shouldn’t be the only reason you book a table. Chef Basilio Pesce’s menu is filled with thoughtful, beautifully executed dishes that deserve just as much attention❤️‍🔥 @porzias_toronto by @tastet.ca

There’s a bar in Toronto with 9 kilometres of carvings hidden in its walls. You could never tell from the outside. 👀🇪🇸 Meet @bar_raval ❤️‍🔥

A staple of the city. Inside, mahogany curls up every wall like a Gaudí dream : 75 hand-sculpted panels that took foam, clay, and pure obsession to build (!!!)

But locals don’t come for the walls. They come to stand shoulder-to-shoulder, vermouth in hand, stealing pinchos off the counter until 1 am🤭

Opened on Valentine’s Day 2015 by Grant van Gameren (an icon of Toronto’s food and cocktail scene), with Hailey Burke joining as a partner five years ago, it’s maybe why, more than 10 years later, we’re still in love with this place 🥹💖 @haileyaislinn @grantvangameren by @tastet.ca

#14 on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list of 2026, recommended by the Michelin Guide, and one of our personal favourites… there’s a reason why everyone loves Linny’s 🫶

The restaurant is named after the chef David Schwartz’s late mother, Linda. From framed family recipes on the walls to dishes inspired by his childhood, Linny’s is as much a love letter as it is a steakhouse ❤️🥩 @dschwa92 @linnysrestaurant by @tastet.ca

Three weeks. That’s all it took for @lilianarestaurant to come to life. Just days after what @marvinpalomo_ described as a « magical » New Year’s Eve service at Vela, a fire forced the Michelin-recommended restaurant to close indefinitely. Instead of stepping away, he found a new space, brought along nearly 90% of his team, and opened Liliana just three weeks later (!!) 🫣

“It was a very hard time,” he says. “Everything that you sort of worked so hard for, like, was gone like that. If you were to ask me last year that we would be doing this, I would say that you’d be crazy.” 🥹

Today, Liliana is one of the most sought-after reservations in Toronto. And for our team, it was an enormous coup de cœur (easily among our favourite discoveries of the year!!) ❤️‍🔥 by @tastet.ca

Did you know that @bbs.bbs.bbs.bbs.bbs ‘s story started at Denny’s? 👀🍳 Before opening one of Toronto’s most beloved Filipino brunch spots, Justin Bella developed an appreciation for North American breakfast culture while working there. He later honed his craft at La Mesa, one of the city’s pioneering modern Filipino restaurants, before opening BB’s, a place where Filipino comfort food and classic diner culture naturally come together. Today, BB’s holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, and is one of our favourites spots in Toronto 🇵🇭🫶 taken in Toronto, Ontario by @tastet.ca

New new new in Toronto!!! ❤️ @mariassportsbar1135

A good dive bar is hard to replace, and the new owners of Maria’s knew it. They took over a long time local watering hole and worked to keep its scrappy and unpretentious spirit intact, then backed it with a kitchen and ownership team drawn from some of the coolest restaurants in town.

The new cool spot for this summer 🫡 by @tastet.ca
