The press photo secrets no one tells female founders.

One of the hardest things as a founder is preparing for a media shoot because no one tells you how to prepare. Remember, these photos will be your digital footprint forever. If you don’t want to regret them later like I did, here are some tips from my experience.

1. You need to prepare to look thinner than you think.
Wide lenses can make you look 5–10 kg heavier on camera. Photos are one thing, but video is a real killer. Prepare yourself for this in advance.

2. Practice your poses before the shoot.
Search for powerful poses on Pinterest, practice them, and take pictures to see which ones suit your look and body type. The more you practice, the more natural and flawless you’ll look.

3. If you’re not good at styling, hire a professional.
Trust me, my looks are so much better when I work with a good stylist.

4. Hair and makeup are a must.
Even Victoria’s Secret models need them, so we do too.

5. Your clothes need to show who you are.
If you’re an artist, look like one. If you’re a tech founder, dress like one. If you’re a founder, make sure your clothes give you that powerful feeling. It doesn’t need to be expensive. Around 70% of my press clothes are from Zara. Just choose well.

6. Keep your photos updated.
Every year, I take a new professional press photo set. When media asks for your photo, you should have one ready immediately. Have around 5–6 different looks so they don’t have to use the same photo every time.

These photos will be part of your digital footprint forever, so prepare for them.

1. Being stingy is a must!!!
Do business for profit, not to please anyone, even yourself. You shouldn’t spend even a penny if it’s not necessary for your business. Every expense should have a purpose.

2. The first two years are the hardest.
I found that if you put in the work during the first two years to build your company’s operational structure, things become much easier later. You’ll have more time to relax, so be patient and focus on building a strong foundation.

3. Don’t be a leader that people love. Be the one people respect.
Your staff may love you because you’re kind, but they’ll respect you when you set clear boundaries, make tough decisions, and hold everyone accountable.

One looks like a leader. The other actually is one.
