I lost a piece of myself yesterday. I lost a best friend, and Casper lost a brother.

I’m going to miss you so much, Smudge. There is no good way to describe how I’m feeling right now. The cage seems so empty without you, although your brother is still in there. The last two and a half years with you have been nothing short of a privilege. I raised you from 8 weeks old and we never spent much time apart. I remember the day that i saw you in the mix of other baby rats. I saw that white spot on your little head and i said “oh my god, he has a little smudge” and I knew right then and there, your name was going to be Smudge. You were and always will be, my heart and soul. You were with me when i lost a bad friend group. You were with me when I moved to a new house. You were with me and comforted me every time I wasn’t doing well. You were with me through everything and I don’t know how I’m going to do this without you. Thank you for being such a special boy. I truly have never had a pet like you and I don’t think I ever will again. You had such a distinct personality and your tweaky little attitude lit up my whole day. I was made fun of consistently for having pet rats, but I never stopped defending them. Smudge was my heart rat. He was the first rat i ever owned and I will never ever forget him. I was dreading the day i had to make this post. My sweet boy, and Smudges dear brother, passed away last night. I knew this day would come but I never thought it would happen the way it did.

Casper, thank you so much for the past 2 1/2 years. It has been such a privilege to take care of you and play the role of your Dad. You were and always will be such a good boy and I hope you knew how much I love and adore you. I’m grateful i could be with you in your last moments, and I wish nothing more than you being at peace. Thank you for all of the funny memories of you and your brother, and I hope that wherever you guys are, you have each other again. Rest in Peace, my sweet baby. by @tateaugust7

2025 played in my face quite a bit, but overall, i am eternally grateful for the connections i’ve made and all the adventures i’ve been able to share with the ones i love. so many new friends and experiences that i wouldn’t trade for anything. thank you to everyone who made my year as amazing as it was. i am so excited for what this new year holds for me and i can’t wait to make more memories. fuckin love you guys by @tateaugust7

my sweet sarah, happy anniversary. this past year with you has been nothing short of a privilege and an amazing series of adventures. from concerts together, holiday parties, nights out with our friends, intimate dates (and so much more), i couldn’t have asked for a better partner to share my life and make memories with. you are such a ray of sunshine and you light up the lives of all the people around us. you are truly one of a kind and i am so lucky to experience you and all of the love you have to give. you make me want to be the best version of myself and i look forward to spending the rest of our lives together. thank you for being my person all this time, i love you to pieces by @tateaugust7
