august you left just as fast as you came. a month full of everything ~ the good, the bad, and the ugly. broke myself out of the cage this month. stopped being afraid to be myself. started growing my own food. got back into the pole studio. found a soft place to land. conquered my fears. trusted myself. connected with my ancestors. isolated myself to figure out how to sort through all of the above.

september will be filled with more joy, more answered texts, less missed calls, more reaching out and more of the things that actually fuel my soul. here’s to entering fall with a fresh perspective. by @tatej_

i miss walking 21,000 steps. hearing japanese and a flurry of other languages, english not being one of them. feeling anonymous in a sea of people. waking up to a new day with nothing on my schedule besides exploration. learning constantly about another culture, other people, other history. splitting open 7-11 tamago sandos. hearing nothing but stillness on the train. being captivated by every minute, every block, every light, every store. finding my way through winding streets and busy intersections. tokyo is absolutely captivating in so many aspects.

i miss the way i felt being 16 hours ahead of everyone i loved, like i was experiencing a completely different reality. i think that’s why it’s been difficult to acclimate back, because in a lot of ways i feel like ive been transported back into a different dimension. i guess that’s true, in a sense.

book the trip you’ve always wanted to go on. put in the time to learn a hard language, even if you only know 10 phrases. spend the money. walk until your feet hurt and then wake up and do it all over again. it will change you. taken in Tokyo, Japan by @tatej_

teamlab planets 🪐 10/10 immersive experience, one of the few things i scheduled out on my trip but it was definitely worth it. all of the exhibits were rooted in earth elements and needless to say it was visually insane. very glad we went ✨☁️🌎🌏 taken in teamLab Planets TOKYO / チームラボプラネッツ by @tatej_

not really much to say. mount fuji continues to impress, awe, strike me with wonder.

a reminder that this planet is so much bigger than all of us and sometimes, when you get a moment to get a glimpse of its beauty, you realize how special this life really is. or maybe that’s just me romanticizing everything. either way, everything is magical if you see it that way. it’s all evidence that bearing witness is the special privilege we get in this life. let’s not take it for granted. taken in Oishi Park Lake Kawaguchiko by @tatej_
