After a year and a half I guess it’s time for a proper introduction, so here’s a little bit about me.

My name is Alexis, I’m 24, and I reside in the great state of North Carolina. I’m an Aries🔥. I’ve read most of my life but picked up the passion again for it about 3 years ago. My favorite genres to read are Horror, Fantasy, and Sci-fi. Some of my other hobbies outside of reading include drawing, photography, playing slow pitch softball and pool. I also included some of my pets you’ve all seen scattered in my posts, they’re my children🤣. I like a lot of music but my favorite artists are $uicideboy$ and I finally got to see them this year! And of course my favorite color is black which is what I’m wearing 90% of the time.

I’ve really enjoyed getting to meet other readers and find awesome books to read since joining. This year and some months has been so much fun despite this app being awful.

Lil Wednesday reading update!

I have so far read 4 spooky/horror books this fall! I’m currently 31% of the way through Crone and absolutely loving it. Keith Rosson knows how to set a scene and writes such great characters. I literally want to do nothing but read this book. Still slowly making my way through my ARC of Nightcat’s and my audiobook of Wolf Worm. So spooky vibes all around this month. Hoping to sneak in one more physical horror book for the month before changing gears for a bit.

Phew this took way longer than expected to put together! I have so many favorites through all of these categories it’s so hard to pick. I’ve been wanting to join this for so long but count on me to be late to the trend 😅.

Sunday Stack 📚

This book stack features books that’s on my TBR I’ve heard little to no talk about while being on bookstagram. All of these besides The Resurrectionist I found on my own time while browsing. They caught my eye whether it was the cover or the synopsis on the back. I love finding books I’ve never heard anything about because it makes the discovery more fun. It’s even better if it turns out to be a 5 star banger!

Do you prefer purchasing a book that is widely discussed and popular or an unknown book you’ve never heard of and found on your own?

#twofortuesday featuring the Six Of Crows duology🐦‍⬛. I’ve had these two books for a long time. I’m hoping to get to at least Six Of Crows before the end of the year. I’ve heard so much hype around this series and it sounds like it’s right up my alley.

September Shenanigans🍂

I can’t believe I managed to finish 5 books this month with as hectic as it’s been. It’s been such a fun month though from two book festivals, to a rodeo, softball, and commissions picking back up. We’re not going to talk about the amount of books I purchased, we’re going to blissfully ignore that part lol.

My favorite books this month were The Stand and Moss’d In Space. The Stand was just an incredible book, all 1,153 pages of it.

My three picks for @aardvarkbookclub September box!
Black Tail by Scott Hawkins
Scion by James Islington
Crone by Keith Rosson

Keith Rosson is a repeat author for me. I read Coffin Moon and knew I had to snag this when I saw Aardvark was going to have it. So excited for all three of these books though.

Current reads + rainy day vibe. 🌧️🍂

Y’all the weather is perfect this week just in time for the fall equinox. I do love Summer, but I am a sucker for Fall. My current reads are Memorials and Wolf Worm! Finally getting into my spooky season TBR.

What’s your first read for the Fall?

What’s better than this? Chilly weather, coffee, rain, and a book.

Listening to the rain hit the car while reading is the best reading ambience.

Won 2 Libro FM credits from a giveaway at a small book festival. Decided to snag Wolf Worm as I’ve heard great things about it. My first T. Kingfisher. by @tattedlibrary

Little book and sticker haul from today! My sister and I went out and went to some of our favorite stores. I can’t believe I lucked up and found not one, not two, BUT THREE Stephen King books in Marshall’s.

The cutest stickers to redo my laptop cover with!

Crazy luck!🍀 📚

Went to our favorite oddities shop! Loved “Huck” so much wish I could’ve taken him home with me.

The honorary door greeter.

So grateful to be able to get a chance to read all of these early. The only one I had heard of before signing up for NetGalley was The Secret Lives Of Zombies Wives. All of the others I found while searching through their categories. Most are horror which was wholly unintentional but makes for a great fall ARC theme. Can’t wait to dive into all of these! I’ve already started Nightcats.

This book feels so nostalgic to my younger years going through the same motions, feelings, and friends as Lucy. The prose is beautiful and wraps you in early. I felt every word that was written much as the characters were. Each description of yearning and ache is so well written. It’s a beautifully devastating story of growing up, changing, and figuring out who you are and I loved every second of it.

Alright, alright, alright I know I said it was time for spooky season. AND IT IS! I’m slowly turning into a pumpkin as we speak…but the weather here is still very much in the 90s and summer-y so….

I’ve been wanting to read these two for a while and now seems like the perfect time. And it’s a nice in between while I’m still working through The Stand. I’m definitely picking up Moss’d In Space first. The House In The Cerulean Sea I’ll get to if I have time before I lock in to full pumpkin mood.
