Last night’s storm was not kind to Ink Assassins & a good part of our city! Around 2am the wind ripped off and destroyed a good part of our upper roof. A lot of water got into the upstairs and then down into the shop. Unfortunately we, as well as thousands of others, are still without power so clean up has been extremely hard. We will be doing our best to get back up and running so thank you to everyone who has offered a kind word and support. Big thanx to the ROI roofing team for coming out ASAP and immediately starting to help with clean up. taken in Erie, PA by @tattoosbyems

“For the most part, I have a weird voice, even when I speak. However, that never kept me from having something to say. ⁣
⁣
“In the early recordings, I was literally trying to find my voice. You can hear it from record to record. There was no “pre-production” or demos. It was straight to tape.⁣
⁣
“We were surrounded by very tough-sounding bands with very low and gruff voices. I love a lot of those bands. I had been in bands early on that were more ‘tough’ sounding, but it just wasn’t reflective of my personality or the band’s vibe or mission. ⁣
⁣
“We were angry and impassioned, but I just didn’t feel that I needed to try and sound ‘mean.’ ⁣
⁣
“We were known for a positive and uplifting presentation and spirit, and the higher vocals definitely stood out and supported that.”⁣
⁣
Head to the website to read a new interview with Brother’s Keeper vocalist Mike Ski on the band’s return, their place in ‘90s Hardcore, the hallowed Lake Effect scene, and his thoughts on his vocal style back in the day.⁣

It’s been a crazy summer! So much cool stuff going on and pulled in a bunch of directions. The family did a ton of Lake Erie time and a bunch of other traveling, @humananimal814 has played some great shows with really good responses (i.e. strong mosh!), and surprise surprise… we dropped the first @brotherskeeperarchive song in over 23 years. Dusted off the old bass.

I’m back home and other than some upcoming weekend traveling I’m trying to catch up on life, bills, music & art projects. If anyone is looking for a tattoo appointment hit me up (deposit required). Need a t-shirt design or other artwork for your band, let’s talk ideas! Looking to stay busy. Don’t forget I make buttons for all occasions (got a new 2.25” button press). @manoverboardbuttons - Appreciate you all. - EMS 100%

PS I found the largest sharks tooth in my collection so far on the Chesapeake Bay and couldn’t be more stoked! Can anyone ID the type? taken in INK ASSASSINS TATTOOS AND PIERCINGS by @tattoosbyems
