Clay is of the earth, as I am too.
Carrying, molding, shaping and creating with clay is something I hold dear to my heart. The process can be heavy with delayed gratification, nonetheless the joy of carrying a tradition of breathing expressions into clay is what gives me strength to carry on.
Clay has shaped my life in beautiful ways, and for this I am grateful. What I have learned is too precious to keep to myself. Teaching is a form of responsibility to the knowledge that others have passed down through this amazing material of earth, Clay.

One more with the raku fire process
Yes this is the kind of music that is going through my whole body as I am collaborating with the elements.
This wheel thrown and altered piece is a reminder for me to go within for guidance. My house of bones holds ancient ancestral memory, for my body is ancient as the ashes that come from fire.
Looking within can be scary, and the reward can be grand.
This sculpture was fired in this process knowing that there would be many cracks and broken pieces that would have to be put back together. In a similar way when I chose to go within the depths of my memory for guidance and transformation, the process is painful and challenging, nonetheless I keep playing this song as I create from my heart.

Student works from a summer Barrel Fire. These are gems that have been kissed by the elements in the most unique way. The result are “FIRE!” as students say 😁
The amounted good vibes that go into building and burnishing these vessels is something to be complimented by these kinds of variations on the surface of these forms.
I’m very pleased, to say the least, with these results. I share the images with lots of joy and excitement for my students that had a chance to experience this process with such outstanding results.

Summer semester felt more like a quarter in length, but we met four days a week instead of two.
