5 years too short

Last month we lost our angel boy, our walking couch potato, the goodest of the good boys.

After more ER visits than Id like to remember, brain cancer struck. Three weeks later he was gone.

Ralph you were too good to be true. Gentle with all the kids, an A+ emotional support animal. I promise we’ll find you a good spot in the garden to sunbathe.

Thanks for letting us be your people. Till we meet again 🤍🤍🤍

May was a whole year in a month. From wedding flowers to cakes, planting out over 300 dahlias, watching our girl get bigger, to my first farmers market with @crabappleflowercollective 🌸✨🌸

I find comfort in the chaos and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Do: say “yes” when an opportunity scares you, order out your kids bday cake, find time to plant your vegetable garden, ask friends for help, go to sleep at 8 pm, buy yourself proper sunscreen 🌞

Don’t: forget to thank the people who support you, limit the amount of ice cream you consume when the weather gets warm, get high on your own supply (so many cake scraps), push off weeding the field beds 🫠 🌱 👩‍🌾

April was a hard launch for @blossom.bakery.co cake orders and finally visiting the family across the pond. I had no idea how much I’d love London

Do: visit Kew Gardens, eat fish & chips for every meal, egg custards from Chinatown, skip with your niece, watch Gogglebox too much, open up a bakery during the busiest planting month of the year 🌸

Don’t: do tourist stuff (unless its @fortnums), eat cake for dessert (eat it for breakfast), rush through life…just sit and watch the flowers for a little

The one where your best friend gets married in an iconic New York venue surrounded by people who are so in love with her 🤍

Do: go see an 8:30 am showing of Dune 2 the morning of the wedding, buy flowers even when your not the florist, eat at cocktail hour, hug your girlfriends too much, cry over how gorgeous the bride is

East Hampton in the Winter is the move. It’s quiet and serene, everything a city kid really needs to restart the year.

Do: way more girls trips, eat breakfast at Carissa’s, go to the bathhouse at Gurney’s, collect sea shells, watch the swans swim, tell your best friend you love her a million times, stop at the NY flower market on your way out

Don’t: go out at night, forget to buy groceries before the stores close, underestimate the drive out (it’s long)

New Orleans the weekend before Mardi Gras starts is the sweet spot. Find two friends who love the city as much as you do and its a win.

Do: go with friends who know the city, happy hour at Elysian Bar, a tour at Mardi Gras World, music on Frenchman, order a walking cake from @bayousaintcake , go to all the museums, stop at King Cake Hub before you fly out

Don’t: stay out late, forget to drink water, count calories

New Orleans is a “yes” city. Do it all, eat it all, laugh with the bartender, dance with a stranger, tip the musicians

Cayman Islands is hard to beat. The people, the food, the ocean feel like home for me.

Do: wake up for sunset, drive out to Rum Point, eat at Macabuca multiple times, get sticky toffee at Calypso Grill, drink Ting, fall asleep on the beach

Don’t: try to do too much

Salzburg for the Christmas markets with my sister friend was magical.

Do: farmers markets, afternoon coffee & cake, walk along the river, eat all the potato salad, drive to the top of a mountain, smoke a morning cigarette inside the airport, go to multiple Christmas markets

Don’t: wear Birkenstocks outside, share your entrees, wait up for Krampus
