A few weeks ago we covered Bad To Worse taking on Green Day's "Jaded" for Punk Rock Radar and Coffin Curse Records' "Green Day Tribute Volume 3". The same compilation also has Kit Major doing "Brain Stew", and her connection to the song goes back a lot further than this release. We dive into it in our new feature.

Kit remembers hearing it as an eight-year-old in Beijing, with "International Superhits!" on her Walkman, her mum's red Jeep and her dad's black iPod all tied to the same period. Green Day followed her back to the US too. The American Idiot tour in Chicago was her first concert. "Miss Ego" shows where Kit is now, but as she puts it, "without Green Day, there would be no Kit Major."

"Brain Stew" has been in her live set since 2022 and this recording is also the first one made with the current lineup of AJ Peacox, Kamber Fishbein and Tom Fitzgibbon. Keith Armstrong produced and mixed it, AJ recorded all of his guitar parts through a Marshall modified by Green Day's guitar tech with the Dookie Mod, and Kit tracked her vocals running around the room as if she was playing the song live.
