If you didn’t see part 1, go back and watch my previous video to see how we ended up driving through a typhoon to get to Mt. Fuji!

The next morning, we woke up to a clear view of the peak from our ryokan room, and I could not believe it. We spent the day exploring Oishi Park and Lake Kawaguchiko, eating Mt. Fuji cookies, and attempting a “relaxing” paddle boat ride with a toddler who wanted to throw himself overboard… 😂😂

We ended the night with a private dinner at our ryokan, where Oliver’s pants kept falling down and Justin and I couldn’t stop laughing. It was such a beautiful day, chaos and all ❤️

Plot twist: we were NEVER supposed to drive to Mt. Fuji 😂🗻

Justin had already bought us tickets to take the train from Tokyo, but if you’ve ever been to Shinjuku Station… you already know where this is going. We somehow got on the WRONG train, missed the train we were actually supposed to take, and by the time we figured it out, there were no more departures that would get us there that day.

So instead of giving up, we said screw it, rented a Toyota Prius, loaded up our one-year-old and turned it into a road trip. Also, it was a blessing in disguise. Yeah renting cars in Japan ate stupid expensive, but between driving through a typhoon, finding random incredible food spots, staying at a ryokan in the mountains and having the freedom to explore around Mt. Fuji, renting a car ended up being one of the best accidental decisions of the trip.

And just wait until you see where we took that Prius in Part 2… 😂 Sometimes the travel plans that go completely wrong end up being the best ones.

Are Tokyo’s most VIRAL attractions actually worth the money?!

After spending the last few weeks exploring Tokyo, here’s my verdict on some of the places you see ALL over your FYP:

Some were 100% worth the hype… and some I loved but I’d definitely do differently next time.

Walking through water, floating flowers, and rooms that literally feel like another dimension!

teamLab Planets in Tokyo was easily one of the coolest immersive experiences we’ve done in Japan! Every room is completely different, and you don’t just look at the art, you actually become part of it.

100% worth the visit IMO, and even our 1-year-old had the best time exploring everything with us!

How much does it actually cost to eat at Tokyo DisneySea? 👀🍴

We tried a little bit of everything, from the Mickey ice cream sandwich and Little Green Men dumplings to Oaken’s Yoo-Hoo Bread, Tipo Tortas and more! (Some not even pictured)

Our total for all of this? ¥5,000… about $32 USD! 🤯 For comparison, I’d estimate a similar amount of snacks at a Disney park in the U.S. would run you around $45–$50.

One thing that surprised me about Japan: theme park food doesn’t automatically mean crazy theme park prices. Would you say $32 is cheap for all of this?! 👇

Calling all Harry Potter fans… this is an absolute MUST in Tokyo!

We spent 4 hours exploring the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo: The Making of Harry Potter, and somehow it still felt like there was more to see. From walking through iconic sets and seeing the costumes and props up close, to learning how the movies were actually made, interactive Quidditch, broomstick riding, and SO many amazing photo ops… I was geeking out the entire time.

They told us to plan for around 4 hours and I genuinely thought there was no way we’d be there that long… they were right.

If you grew up loving Harry Potter, add this to your Japan bucket list immediately. Would you spend 4 hours here?! 👀

Tokyo with kids is SO much more fun than I expected! Here are 5 family-friendly things to add to your Tokyo itinerary 👇🏼

- Tokyo Fire Museum: FREE and perfect for little ones
- Chikyu no Niwa: an amazing indoor playground at Tokyo Solamachi by Skytree
- ASOBono!: HUGE indoor play space with different areas to explore
- Tokyo DisneySea: tons of rides for little ones + a baby play area inside Mermaid Lagoon
- Bērubēru Park at Pasela Resorts: kids can play while the adults eat, relax AND karaoke

Tokyo has seriously been one of the most family-friendly places we’ve traveled to. There is SO much here for babies and kids, and we keep finding new places we love!

Also, please forgive me if I butchered any of the Japanese pronunciations… I’m trying my best! 🇯🇵🫶🏼 SAVE this for your Tokyo family trip & send it to someone traveling to Japan with kids! ✈️
