I don’t even know how to put into words what it feels like to be writing this. Today we said goodbye to my dad, and somehow I’m supposed to figure out how to live my life without my best friend in it. My dad was so much more than just my dad. He was my best friend, my biggest supporter, the person I could always count on, and quite possibly the funniest person I’ve ever known. He had a way of making everyone around him laugh, and I don’t think there will ever be another person who can make me laugh the way he did. He was the person I wanted to tell everything to, the person I looked for in a room, and the person I always knew would be in my corner. I feel so incredibly lucky that I got to call him my dad. He believed in me, encouraged me, supported me, and was proud of me in a way I’ll carry with me forever. So much of who I am is because of him, and I hope someday I can become even half of the person he was. I never imagined I’d have to learn how to live without him this soon. There are so many things I still wanted to do with him, conversations we were supposed to have, and memories we were supposed to make. It hurts knowing he won’t physically be here for so many moments I always pictured him being beside me for. But I know he’ll be with me in every way that matters. I’ll carry his jokes, his advice, his kindness, his strength, his laugh, and all the little things that made him who he was. I’ll talk about him, tell his stories, and make sure everyone knows just how incredible my dad was. Seeing how many people loved him has been heartbreaking and comforting at the same time. He touched so many lives, and I feel so proud that I got to be his daughter. Dad, I hope you know how much I love you and how proud I am to be your daughter. You were my biggest supporter and my best friend, and nothing will ever change that. I’m going to miss your laugh, your jokes, your voice, your advice, your hugs, and just knowing you were here. I would give anything for one more conversation, one more laugh, one more normal day with you. Thank you for everything, Dad. I love you more than words could ever explain.
