Happy Monday. My day started spectacularly. One of my students gave me strawberry sago, an Asian desert treat. 😊🍓 by @taylor_cte

One of my students gave this to me. She told me she was at the El Sobrante Stroll and they were giving away free stress balls. She thought I could use one, so she picked it up for me. I love my students who think of me like that. 🫶🏾 by @taylor_cte

Here's a #tbt picture for you. I've seen a trend of people posting AI 80's pictures.

Well this is a real picture of young Mr. Taylor in high school. That was at my Junior Prom in 1989. by @taylor_cte

I'm late with this post too. S/o to all of our graduates last year. I wish you all the best as you start college, trade school, or your careers. The world is yours.

I included the 2nd part of my song. Lmk what you think.

I was driving by #OaklandTech and had to stop, take this picture, and share this story.

I’m a very proud Oakland Tech Bulldog alum. This Block T in front of the school is an iconic landmark. I was part of the groundbreaking and dedication when it happened. It was my freshman year, either 1986 or 1987, and I was on the sound crew. I showed up on the weekend to provide sound for the event.

I also have to give a shout out to my electronics teacher, Mr. Coates. He added me to the sound and stage crew, and I did that all 4 years in high school. I knew going into high school that I wanted to be a DJ, and I thought taking electronics class would be helpful. I learned a lot of things from him that I still use to this day. Wherever he is, God bless him.

I’ve seen all kinds of people take pictures with the Block T and share it over the years. A lot of people probably don’t know when it was actually laid down, but I was there, and I’m really proud of that.

Emancipation did not happen on Juneteenth. It happened on January 1, 1863. Information traveled much slower back then, and people in Texas did not find out until June of 1865.

I've celebrated Juneteenth my whole life in Oakland. The majority of my family migrated to Oakland from Louisiana, and some from Texas. People who had family from those places and migrated West carried the tradition.

Most people who migrated East, or whose ancestors found out much closer to the official date, never heard of it before it became a Federal holiday.

The celebration was much better, more heartfelt, and more community-minded before the federal government decided to recognize it. It feels like a capitalistic Hallmark holiday now, like the rest of them. That wasn't what it was about.

I hope you take time to remember our ancestors today who fought through the American Holocaust and survived so that we could be here today. God bless their memories and what they endured.

I've seen my students pose like this for years. I don't understand it but I decided to strike the pose. I heard it means no face, no case. ✌🏾 by @taylor_cte
