THE ROM-COMMERS
by Katherine Center

rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

y’all. I’m not okay. I just finished this book maybe 15 minutes ago, and I just had to post it immediately. I cried off and on while also laughing? the last 50 or so pages. My heart is so warm. This book made me laugh out loud, cry (obviously), feel all the feels. Wish I could read it for the first time all over again!!!

It also left me with one of my favorite lovey book quotes of all time: “Choose a good, imperfect person who leaves the cap off the toothpaste, and puts the toilet paper roll on upside down, and loads the dishwasher like a ferret on steroids — and then appreciate the [heck] out of that person. Train yourself to see their best, most delightful, most charming qualities. Focus on everything they’re getting right. Be grateful — all the time — and laugh the rest off.” 🥹🥹🥹 by @taylorb_reads

THE PERFECT COUPLE
by elin hilderbrand

rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really could not put this book down. I read my first EH book maybe a little less than a year ago (The Five Star Weekend) and loved it. Picked this one because the series came out on Netflix, and I of course had to read the book before I could watch it! As always, I’m a sucker for a book with several POVs, so this checked the box :) by @taylorb_reads

helllooooooo, haven’t posted here in forever!!! life with an 11 month old + reading looks very different from what I’m used to 😅

I’ve read quite a few books this year and might post about some of them soon, but I just finished listening to this one and I can’t say enough good things about it. I honestly forgot I placed a hold for it on Libby and only did so because I happened to see a description of it in passing. I’m so glad I did though because I just adored this book so much. I caught myself smiling at the characters and their wittiness, and the narrator for this one made the book THAT much better!

hope you’ve gotten to read a lot of books you’ve loved this past year, and I’m looking forward to posting more of my reads in 2025 🩵 by @taylorb_reads

JUST THE NICEST COUPLE
by Mary Kubica

rating: ⭐️⭐️

I was so so SO disappointed by this book. I’ve had mixed emotions about her writing previously, some good experiences and some bad, but I wanted to give this one a chance.

The book is from the POVs of Christian and Nina. Christian’s wife, Lily, believes she’s the last person to see Nina’s husband before he disappears into thin air. Christian and Lily are determined to keep this a secret, especially from Nina.

The characters are terrible and make really terrible, irrational decisions. It’s impossible to root for any of them when you’re screaming in your head, “What kind of normal, rational adult would do this?”. It was also just really slow. It got an extra star for a few of the twists I didn’t really see coming, but I just really didn’t like this book. :( by @taylorb_reads

ALL THE DANGEROUS THINGS
by Stacy Willingham

rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I read her debut book A Flicker in the Dark, and while I really liked it, All the Dangerous Things definitely surpasses it for me.

SW isn’t a mother but somehow writes a deeply honest account of the struggles of postpartum and motherhood. There are a lot of complicated women in this book, and nothing is really black and white. I took off a half star because I thought it started a little slow, but I quickly couldn’t put this book down. So twisty and completely unexpected.

Stacy is quickly becoming a must-read author for me! by @taylorb_reads

HAPPY PLACE
by emily henry

rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

soooooo obviously this book was released on tuesday. and I am posting it on thursday. yes i read it in 2 days. yes i thought it was that good. EMILY HENRY IS UNDEFEATED

every character in this book feels so real to me like I could reach out and touch them. I loved this cast of characters sooooooooooo stinkin much. harriet. HARRIET!!!! I am her. every ounce of anxiety, fear, unsuredness, the feeling you’re not good enough and may never be, defining yourself through the lens of what other people want for you, the need to peace-keep, the middle man. she was everything without being too over the top and unrealistic about it. i love her, and she is my favorite emily henry, maybe even favorite overall fiction, character, ever.

so the trope of “remarriage” or whatever you want to call this — I’m IN. all the way in. wyn and harriet are not even close to being a storybook couple and maybe not even the healthiest throughout the book, but the genuine care and feeling that’s there…. feels like something believable, something you are rooting for SO HARD

also this book cover is beautiful, and i might just have to read it again 🥹

who else picked this one up on release day?!?! by @taylorb_reads

COUNTERFEIT
by Kirstin Chen

rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

this was a very quick and easy read, which I have not had much of lately. But that’s all it was for me, just a good transition read.

It’s very easy to fly through it because this is honestly so fascinating to think about when it comes to the counterfeit handbag industry. It’s honestly genius 🫣

Pick this one up if you need a quick and easy read! by @taylorb_reads

GIRL, FORGOTTEN
by karin slaughter

rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

this is my first karin slaughter book, and sheeeshhhh she doesn’t hold back 🫣🫣

and before you say anything, yes this is my first book of hers and it’s a sequel LOL. there were a few parts that i was like “i never got the answer to this” but that’s because it was in book 1, pieces of her 🙃 besides that, it’s a pretty stand-alone book and made sense to me without reading pieces of her. BUT, I did love this book so much that i binged pieces of her on netflix (recommend).

this book is a tough, tough read. its grim. it’s twisted. it’s just overall rough. but the characters in this book are complex, and the story overall was elaborate and full of detail. it kept me in it the entire time, and it grasped me up until the very last page.

you might want to read pieces of her first HAHA, but if you don’t, this one will still be a great read. just prepare yourself :’) by @taylorb_reads

CARRIE SOTO IS BACK
by taylor jenkins reid

RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

favorite. read. of. the. year. i felt every emotion — excited, anxious, pissed off, heartbroken, hopeful, engaged.

carrie makes an initial appearance in malibu rising. she’s not liked (for obvious reasons, iykyk), and she seems cold, apathetic, and ruthless. in this book, you get to see all of this as a part of who she is, but you see everything that lies underneath and what forms that hard exterior. you see the beauty and sheer determination of the start and trajectory of her career. you see her path to setting the record for most grand slam titles in women’s tennis. you see the unconditional but complicated love between carrie and her father/coach, javier. you see her clawing to remain the greatest player ever in tennis. you see her fears, her insecurities, her loneliness.

she can be rude, she can be abrasive, and she can be straight up hard to like. but this is what makes her such a complex character that experiences personal growth, keeping you compelled the entire way through.

this book is about tennis, okay. i don’t care if you’re an avid tennis fan, indifferent, or hate the sport, I DONT CARE. I was absolutely entrenched in every single tennis game that tjr takes you through the eyes of carrie. this book has so much heart and soul and is so much bigger than just tennis — it looks at overcoming the need to be perfect, what perfection even means, and what does being good enough look like.

i laughed, i cried, i fumed. i would sell my right leg to read this book again for the first time.
