HĪHĪMANU | It’s timeeeee... For the past six months, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside my close friend and the incredibly talented @lexiefish808 to create the branding and visual identity for her interior design senior thesis. When Lexie first shared her concept with me, I knew it was going to be a special project. Between her final year of classes and my full-time work schedule, bringing it all to life was no small feat. But after months of collaboration, brainstorming, and plenty of late night phone calls, I’m so excited to finally start sharing our hard work! For now, a little teaser, the mood board that started it all. This board shows design inspiration that became the foundation for all of the branding decisions that followed, helping us define the visual world of HĪHĪMANU and shape an identity that supports the heart of Lexie’s thesis concept. So without further ado HĪHĪMANU, cheers to the eagle ray, the true inspiration behind it all and an animal I have grown to love throughout this whole process. BRANDING | It’s official, the Hīhīmanu branding is in! After months of research and ideating, the final branding and logomarks for Hīhīmanu and its interior locations are finally here. Each logo represents a different location within the resort, and we gave each location its own distinct personality and identity. The overarching inspiration being the ocean and of course the eagle ray. In the Hīhīmanu logo, @lexiefish808 and I really wanted to emulate the flow of the ocean, as well as the rigidity of some of the structures within it. We also wanted a beautiful, organic eagle ray to be the main focus, the rest of the branding followed suit. Rounding out the branding is a distinct color palette meant to replicate diving deeper and deeper into the ocean, a theme seen throughout the entirety of the resort. Finally, even though we used custom typography for the actual branding, for the final project we went with a clean sans serif and serif combination that similarly matched the style of the logo I created. We can’t wait to share more with you, so stay tuned to see the final piece, a compilation of research, branding, design, and stunning interiors.
