i remember the day i went up to my dad and told him i wanted to be a catcher. he asked me ‘are you sure? it’s going to be a lot of hard work.’ catching quickly became the thing i loved most and took the utmost pride in. i’ve never had anything else that was really my ‘thing’ like catching was. i can say i’ve made some of my best friends in the entire world through playing softball and have gained memories that i will have forever. although my journey didn’t go quite how i wanted it to go, looking back i think battling my back injury has made me the person i am today. i can’t count the amount of games and practices i played through in the most pain ive ever felt, and how many times i felt so defeated and just had to keep trying. i finally thought i didnt have anything left in me and hung it up mid-season sophomore year, and i would have never believed it then the journey i had ahead of me. after 2 of the hardest years of my life, i finally got myself to a spot where i could live my life without pain. about 5 days before tryouts this year i decided to try again. i was so blessed with the best support system behind me. amazing coaches and a wonderful mom and dad and the most supportive best friend/boyfriend out there. i was also lucky enough to have been behind the plate for probably the most talented player i’ve ever met. shae quickly became one of my most favorite people and i can say confidently that she carried our team all the way to where we ended up. i thank God every day for answering my prayers and keeping me healthy for one more season. i know little taylor would be sad we never became a husky or a duck, but i can say that ive never been prouder of myself for learning to live with an injury i thought would never get better. #7 signing out 🫶 by @taylorjbentley
