Watch me work! 4 weeks of planning and production in 1 min 30 seconds

I had the opportunity to work with @bjmcbride23 @mohammad.earth @1800happybirthday & their team to design and produce the events accompanying the Oakland activations of the 1-800 Happy Birthday Project. From the opening exhibition of Happy Heavenly Birthday, Oscar Grant at @blackpantherpartymuseum to the healing village at @blackjoyparade to the Mothers' Healing & High Tea Event with @oscargrantfoundation , the @solidgroundsco team was BUSY in February. Grateful for the opportunity to walk in my purpose, to create something beautiful, & to uplift so many small local businesses throughout the process. The @1800happybirthday project allowed money & opportunities to flow to talented vendors, creatives, and community that continue to support the vision! Forever grateful for that 🙏🏽🙏🏽

There were sooooo many volunteers, makers, friends, family, artists, & community partners involved in bringing these special moments to life! Thank you thank you thank you for all of your help, partnership, creativity, & trust 💗 Until next time-- we did that!

From the moment I first attended @blackjoyparade , I knew I wanted to be part of it. I wrote it on my goals list… and here we are — our first Black Joy Parade in the books. 🖤✨
I had the honor of curating this space alongside the powerful @1800happybirthday project — creating a soft landing where joy and grief could coexist.

Inside the village:

🎶 @theeefibonacci keeping the energy moving
⚖️ @yourrightscamp (led by Colin Kaepernick) + @benandjerrys free heavenly birthday scoops + resource sharing

☕ @soulblendscoffee keeping folks warm and grounded
☎️ The phone booth exhibit at the center — birthday messages to loved ones lost to police brutality

120,000+ people outside.
A moment to breathe inside.

Because joy isn’t the absence of grief — it’s what we build around it.

Deep gratitude to @theelowkeyp , EP of Black Joy Parade — her trust and guidance helped me stretch my skills and think bigger about what’s possible.

Wildest part? our team pulled this off in under 3 weeks — through pivots, weather scares, and a freezing 12-hour build. This work is not for the weak… but it is for those called to purpose.

First BJP down. Honored to have produced my second activation with 1-800-HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

This project is one for the books. There was so much love, intention, and care that went into making the opening reception of Happy Heavenly Birthday, Oscar Grant so special and I'm honored to have been brought in to lead the event design and production. Thank you to the amazing artist @mohammad.earth , @bjmcbride23 and team who brought the 1-800 Happy Birthday Project to life. It's been a joy to work with ya'll and my creative spirit is being nourished all month with what's up ahead.

Oscar Grant could have been my brother-- this February makes 5 years since my brother Naz was taken from us too soon. Their birthdays were a month apart. Oscar would have been 40. My brother would have been turning 30. I was planning a birthday party that I knew both would be proud of...in The heart of The Black Panther Party Museum... in Oakland, CA.. on the first day of Black History Month! I got to include so many of our local Black vendors & creatives to contribute to such beautiful vibes. How monumental is that? The ancestors.. (and lots of trust from the team) were ever present in guiding this project to fruition! This exhibit is a reminder that you can still be present in the experience of joy while holding space for the heaviness of the grief we carry. As Black people, we do that through gathering in community, laughing, dancing, and celebration of life. I wanted every element of this space to give that feeling... plus a little luxury... and I'm so proud of what we created! ...and there's more to come! See you at Black Joy Parade 💗

omg this Galentine’s Pilates party to kick off a packed February was so cute 🥹💖
This was my first time trying Pilates, but my girl @itsugoxgo started teaching… so I had to pull up.

They spoiled us! We got the cutest jumpers from @innerglo.apparel & socks from @dew.health.wellness , wellness bags from @staygoodgood , delicious food from @gottaeattapita , red light therapy from Beam Light, an amazing workout that whooped my a$$, good energy around the room, bubbles, and all the vibes. Like… what more could you ask for?!

Oh — did I mention the studio is Black-owned?! 🖤✨
Yeah. We’re definitely coming back.

2025 was.... emotionally rich. Very high highs & low lows. Obvi only the good moments are the ones featured.. For me, going back thru these moments serves as a reminder of my continued gratitude for the blessings and the sweetness of life that comes along with the inevitable griefs & unknowns of each season.

Anyways, this recap is only a small sliver of the moments that either kept me sane or brought me joy in the delusion of it all. 2025 brought so many experiences and I'm still unpacking it all. Excited for what 2026 has in store!

Day 2 of the year and we're reflecting on conversations like this one with some of our staygoodgood ambassadors @rubyenvy @themindfulmuse__ @zah_zah_love @poetryntings @taylorlynn_n as we think about what spaces we want to create moving forward.

Genuine dialogue.
No judgment.
No awkwardness.
Just people talking honestly about sex, pleasure, protection, and looking out for themselves and each other.
This moment started in community and ended up on TV — you may see it featured in Comcast as an initiative with @sfpublichealth and now it lives here too.
