These last 10 years haven’t flown by and I still remember everything that happened. You fought for so long and when they told us there was no more hope, I prayed that God would take you home quietly, quickly, and without pain. You died 2 days later.

I wish I could sit with you one more time, but I know once more could never be enough. To hug you and smell your cologne would break my heart all over again, but it would be worth it.

Your pictures freeze in time, the voicemails stop, but you’ll always be dad in my phone.

These last 3,653 days, I have lost and found myself over and over again, and I think you’d be very proud of who I grew up to be.

Thank you for always showing up for me, for protecting me, and for loving me through so many moments. You and mom raised us to be strong, to keep fighting, and to always get back in the game.

I hope you knew how much I loved being your daughter and that all the little things mattered. You have crossed my mind every day since we last sat together listening to Elton John.

I’ll keep seeing you in brilliants sunsets, Christmas lights, and glimpses of our family around the dinner table.
