The story of the thief on the cross has been marking me the past two weeks

Perhaps he had been many places… but he had never seen a Man like Jesus

No cross had ever been carried with such meekness and majesty.

As he watched Jesus walk that hill — fainting, bleeding — there was no complaint, no retaliation, only eyes that looked with love at those who glared with hate.

Surely that walk up the mountain was the first sermon Jesus ever preached to him.

Then he heard a sound no criminal had ever heard:“Father, forgive them…”

A prayer he had never prayed, coming from a Man he could not explain.

And something in him whispered: Who could this be?

He watched the soldiers mock Him, heard the crowds say, “He saved others…”

And maybe that became his gospel:
If He saved others… why not me?

With nothing left to offer, he breathed one sentence:
“Jesus, remember me.”

And eternity shifted.

“The God that is mighty to save was mighty even during His last breath.” - Bob Sorge

The sight of Jesus — not a sermon, not a book, not a lifetime of religion — won him.

A reminder for us: His mercy reaches farther than our past and closer than our final breath.
