Today is going to hit a little differently. ❤️🚒

When I worked at the firehouse, Fire Prevention Day was always one of my absolute favorite days. I loved seeing the kids come through, teaching them about fire safety, and watching how excited they were about everything.

Today, I get to walk back into that same firehouse, but this time as a teacher, bringing my students with me. 🥹

Life sure has a funny way of bringing you full circle. A place that holds so many memories from one chapter of my life gets to be part of this chapter too. ❤️ by @tbowden138

PreK-4, here comes Lathan! 💙📚🥹

A little boy with a whole big world to discover. This year holds stories that spark your imagination, pictures only you can create, and friendships that start with a simple “Want to play?” ❤️

Sweet boy, may you be brave enough to try something new, raise your hand when you have a question, and try again when something feels hard. You don’t have to know everything yet—that’s what learning is for. Every little discovery, every proud smile, and every “I did it!” will be a part of the amazing boy you’re becoming. 🥹

May God watch over you, surround you with kindness, and help you feel safe, loved, and ready to learn. May your days be full of belly laughs, wonderful questions, and the joy of finding out just how much you can do.

Today, we remember. 🇺🇸

I still remember exactly where I was. It’s one of those days you never forget. the shock, the sadness, and watching our country change in an instant.

Today we remember the lives lost, the heroes, the families forever affected, and the way our country came together afterward. ❤️🤍💙

Best friends forever. 💙

Paxton was Lathan’s very first real friend. The first friend he made completely on his own, with no help from us parents. Their friendship just happened naturally, and watching it grow has been one of the sweetest things.

This year looks a little different since Paxton isn’t at preschool with Lathan anymore, but that hasn’t changed a thing. They may not see each other at school every day, but they are still besties through and through. 🥹

There is just something so special about your child’s first friendship, the one they chose all by themselves. I hope these two always know how special their friendship is and that no matter where life takes them, they’ll always have these sweet memories of being each other’s first best friend. 💙

I’ve had a lot of people ask me how my first week went, and I can officially say… it went well! 🩷💻

Was it perfect? Nope. 😂 But I learned A LOT in just one week.

I already know I have some adjustments to make to the curriculum I originally planned. I built it around the standards and what I thought each grade level would be ready for, but now that I’ve actually met my students and seen where they are, I know I need to tweak some things and that’s okay!

There are also going to be some changes for the students when it comes to what they are used to Technology class looking like. We’re going to be learning, creating, problem-solving, typing, coding, researching, and building real technology skills… and sometimes that means getting a little outside of our comfort zones.

Teaching Kindergarten through 8th grade is definitely tricky! 😅 Going from little ones who are learning how to use a mouse to middle schoolers who are ready for much bigger projects requires A LOT of different approaches, but I honestly love that challenge.

One week down, lots of lessons learned, lots of ideas already spinning in my head, and I’m genuinely excited for the year ahead. 💻🩷

Today starts a new chapter. 🥹❤️

I’m nervous. I’m scared. I’m excited. I’m emotional. Basically… all the feelings.

But I think the hardest part is knowing I’m leaving my boy. This is the first time since before he was born that our everyday routine is really changing. For the last 4½ years, it has pretty much always been him and me. We’ve had days here and there where I’ve been away, but I’ve always been close. I’ve always been right there.

And now Mama is starting something new.

I know this will be good for both of us. I know he is going to grow, and so am I. I know God has opened this door for a reason, even if walking through it feels a little scary right now.

And I am SO thankful for our village. ❤️ Between family, friends, and the amazing people God has placed in our lives, I know my boy will be loved, cared for, supported, and surrounded by people who adore him.

So today, I’m walking into this new chapter with a nervous heart, probably a few tears, lots of excitement, and so much gratitude.
