I had a blast at the @gardencoffee.sandiego book fair today. $2 paperbacks, $4 hardcovers, $1 children’s books, and special editions were on sale. Since rivals to lovers is a favorite trope, I had to grab this one! The coffee shop and Little Free Library on the patio is also a vibe. If you’re in San Diego, come check them out. Kinda chic to have @miasosaromance join your bookclub 🥰

We had SO much fun discussing, The Starter Ex! I loved the characters, family dynamics, the culture and representation. [ARC Review] Benefits Included by Chantal Bookal | Pub Date: 9/1/26

My review: 4⭐️

I’m a sucker for a second-chance romance; Benefits Included was exceptional, and I ate it up.
These characters were special and multi-layered. Found myself really being drawn into the FMC, Kennedy’s, story. I really felt for her; she is an ambitious, stubborn go-getter. I’m also a Taurus so her character reminded me of myself in a lot of ways especially her dedication to building her career and pursuing her passions. Channeling Beyoncés “I’m that girl,” heck yes. She is going through a lot and you can tell she is really trying to do better for herself but she’s stuck in her own ways. I love the mental health rep too & the author mapped out the therapy sessions greatly. Dreaux, our MMC, is likable too, he’s charming respectful, and knows how to treat a lady. I loved how he stood on business. One of the things I loved about this book was the friendships. Both between Dreaux and Kennedy, and also between their core group of friends. I loved the banter and meet-ups, especially that getaway trip to the Poconos. Sage and Tahira are the best Gworls! I need a sequel with one of their stories. Overall, the chemistry between the FMC and MMC was unmatched, years of friendship coming back for an opportunity to try again. If you like a slow burn, friends-to-lovers, a rekindled spark, and mutual pinning you’ll love this.

Loved meeting @hm.wolfe during her book release party for the deluxe edition of Daggermouth, which is also an instant NYT Bestseller🔥. She was so kind and cool; she dropped gems, and I loved hearing her talk about her book writing journey. Can’t wait to dive into this one. Have you read Daggermouth yet?
