Every afternoon, he waits by the window.

Same house.
Same light.
Same hope that today will be different.

In his mind, the car pulls up.
The door opens.
He runs outside without thinking.

They go to the park.
They laugh.
They grab ice cream on the way home.

For a little while, everything feels normal.
Safe.
Right.

And then he wakes up.

The driveway is empty.
The house is quiet again.
The window hasn’t moved.

His mom stands behind him for a moment.
Hand on his shoulder.
Looking out too—just in case.

That’s the part people miss.
Children don’t stop hoping.
They just get better at dreaming.

Every child is waiting on someone.
Presence changes everything.

If this story feels familiar, it’s bigger than one family.
It’s why this movement exists.

Legacy isn’t what you leave for your kids. It’s what you leave in them.

“I want my kids to know their father stood for what’s right… that he served others, owned his flaws, and kept growing. That he was a builder—not just of things, but of people and possibilities. That he didn’t let his past stop him from creating a future worth living in.”

It’s not about your “I Love Me” wall behind you...

It’s about what you build in front of you.

Today, something hit me.

Someone sent me a TikTok reel about their problems, and it made me realize something...

If you spend your life studying problems, you'll become an expert at identifying problems.

But if you spend your life studying solutions, you'll become someone who creates them.

The problems don't always disappear—but your ability to overcome them grows.

Be careful what you're feeding your mind every day. Are you training your brain to spot obstacles... or opportunities?

Focus less on what's wrong and more on what works.

That's where growth lives.

I thank God for my unconquerable soul.

No weapon. Crutches, wheelchair or skates, you can't count on me running towards my goals... pun intended.

He grew up in this very community. In his own words, he was once part of the deconstruction — and now he’s fully committed to the reconstruction.

That kind of transformation doesn’t happen by accident. It happens through humility, growth, and a decision to lead differently.

I’m proud of him — not just for what he’s accomplished, but for the example he sets and the man he’s helped shape me to become. His journey is proof that where you start doesn’t have to determine where you finish.

Albert Weathers has been a lot to me over the past 23 years Pastor, Friend and My son Tamir Bell Godfather.

He has stopped me from making bad life-changing decisions before and I've called him in tears man to man in more than one occasion. My first time telling someone WHO I WAS was in his basement in a group just like the one we are started FatherHood United .

He’ll be delivering a special message about being @PowerFULL at Dinner With Dad at Washington Park on Thursday, February 26th at 6pm. If you care about restoring, equipping, and activating men in our community, you don’t want to miss this one.

This is going to sound a bit contrarian but...
Goals are overrated.
Yep—I said it.

Here's #whatIlearnedtoday (from Chapter 1 of Atomic Habits):
The uncomfortable truth James Clear hits on is that:
1. Goals are set by losers and winners alike.
2. The goal didn’t make the difference. The system did.

Every January, we repeat the same ritual:
New goals.
New declarations.
Same outcomes.
Why?

Because goals are momentary. Habits are identity-shaping.
A goal says: “I want to lose 20 pounds.”
A habit says: “I’m the type of person who doesn’t miss workouts.”
A goal says: “I want to make six figures.”
A habit says: “I show up daily and do the uncomfortable work.”

Goals give you direction.
Habits determine destination.

Here’s the kicker that stuck with me today:
You don’t rise to the level of your goals.
You fall to the level of your systems.

New Year’s resolutions fail not because people don’t want change—
but because they’re trying to achieve something without becoming someone new.

If 2026 is going to be different, it won’t be because you set a better goal.

It’ll be because you built better habits… small, boring, repeatable ones.

So maybe the real question this year isn’t:
👉 “What do I want?”
But:
👉 “Who do I need to become—and what does that person do every day?”

That’s where change actually starts.
