Looks like we made it.." This week sees our little dungeon of hair and debauchery turn 1, and what a year it has been. I promised myself I wouldn't get emotional but here I am, standing in line for my $1 hotdog at IKEA crying, wondering if I have the mental fortitude to interpret the instructions for the "Skruvby" cabinet i have in my trolley. I just wanted to setup a barbershop that was based on community. Not a brand, not insta views, not pretension, not an inflated pricing schedule, not ego. Just a barbershop dishing out elite grooming and diabolical conversations in a space that welcomes and encourages comfort. Where everybody knows your name and you're always glad you came. Where as a client you feel like a friend and feel spoilt and taken care of. All signs are telling me that thus far I have succeeded. I have no hesitation to say I genuinely love the assortment of folks who come down that stairwell and sit in our 60 year old Raynor chairs. I wouldn't do this job if I didn't, and I wouldn't have rolled the dice on opening a shop a month after becoming a dad if I didn't need a change to a business model that rewards returning clients and nurtures a horizontal relationship structure. Yet again, not ego, just mutual respect. The fun little conversations, @rcjefferies ridiculous amount of keys, @fun.key.town and his holy rat's tail that no one thought would be around this long, @krisrodda and his Whisky tutelage that continues to hit the mark, @jackpayn._ and his christening of the shop early one Tuesday morning. Countless memories, quirks, convos and laughs that make me more than proud of what this space is doing and how it is operating. On Saturday the 22nd we'll raise a few frothys to the 12 months that has been and cast an eye forward to what is yet to come. It has easily been the greatest and most tiring year of my life and my gratitude knows no bounds. Thank you infinitely to those who made this all happen, particularly @laurenbrento who's unwavering belief carries me and all who've come down and enjoyed all that TCB Barbershop is. We're officially on Fresha folks ⚡️ Just wanted to clarify that any bookings you had on the old app have been moved across for you. So that's easy peasy lemon squeezey (still heaps of lemons available in the shop btw 🍋). Also when booking on Fresha it will ask for a card to have on file. This is simply there for in case people no show or cancel last minute. No deposit is taken or payment made during the booking process. Gravy? Any other questions don't be afraid to holler. We're looking forward to riding out the last few months of 2026 with you all like a fleet of silky dachshunds flying towards a finish line, decorated with tasty wursts, desserts and sunshine. It was such a great time Saturday night celebrating 1 year of TCB. Games were played, pastries were eaten, drinks were drunk, pinatas were beaten and much fun was had. Thanks so much for the support. Congrats to @rowdydowdy01 on his big meaty win. Big thanks to @willburtonsax for blowing everyone's minds musically and @abbotsandkinney & @viavai_adl for blowing everyone's taste buds away. MEAT THE TEAM Time for everyone's favourite Roadhouse fan Benny. He's never afraid to discuss his theories on extra terrestrial life, Japanese history or obscenely low guitar tunings. He has lots of ghost stories, please don't get him started on them. He tattoos 3 days a week, cuts hair 2 and spends the rest of the time convincing people he played in bands and has black belts.
