MOTHER TO SON: Comfort In Self 🖤✨

Lately, I’ve been contending with words that were said to me as a child. I’ve been contending with how those words made me feel and the walls that I built up as a result. Those walls kept me safe for decades but I’ve begun the process of tearing them down. One prayer/meditation/journal page/sermon/reflection/conversation at a time.

I silenced my feelings because I was afraid of my voice being too light, too Southern, too much for the world around me. I spent intentional time learning to love every part of me and honoring the nuances that make me unique. This practice helped me discover the power of my voice and moments like this, with my mother, remind me that I am safe + supported to use that power for good.
