Our first Oktoberfest, and somehow it already feels like a tradition 🍻🇩🇪

Sam ran the Berlin Marathon, then we all met up in Munich for steins, espresso martinis, questionable decisions, and the absolute BEST time.

10/10 would drink a liter and do it all again. Prost! 🥨🍻

1st Half Marathon done!

This was overall a very humbling experience for me. I was never a “runner.” Before a few years ago, I was morbidly obese, pushing almost 300 pounds at some points, so for me to be able to do any of this is proof that anyone can do it.

I recently some levels in my blood work that were severely low, and I have a slight tear in my hip labrum that I have had for many years, which inadvertently caused “runner’s knee” during the training process. So, there I was with hip pain and knee pain to the point that I could barely walk at times, plus exhaustion and not feeling myself; the doctors were considering infusions. I considered dropping out more than once, but I decided to do lots of research to see if there was anything I could do to get through it, and it has been practically another full-time job.

Yoga/stretching, salt with magnesium soaks, running form/stride correction, heavy leg training to build strength around my injuries, injury-focused exercises, plyometrics, learning how to fuel my body before, during, and after long runs, medical-grade insoles, proper hydration, supplements, nutrition changes, and enough K-tape to wrap a small car all got me here.

@orangetheorybabylon for letting me go off script on the templates and focus on my training, allowing me to get my long runs done, spreading them through multiple classes sometimes during this awful winter, @westdooryoga for being a place of solitude and getting those deep stretches that I desperately needed, @ashhotyogafitnesswellness for helping me with my balance and mobility, my amazing friends for coming to the city to show me love along the route, and last but certainly not least, @e_g_mason and @samanthaackerman for going on some of my long runs with me and being inspirations for me – you’re both pros at this running thing. Eric also came into the city to show support - I’ve never had any employer support me the way the @handsome_homebuyer organization has! @samanthaackerman so proud if you and your amazing PR I wouldn’t want to do these races with anyone else.
