The Texas Collegiate League is here to provide the best summer league experience for professional prospects from colleges throughout the country. The league allows those players with eligibility remaining to showcase and improve their skills in a wholesome, minor league-type atmosphere using wooden bats.
The league is committed to providing quality, inexpensive entertainment in a small-town, intimate atmosphere while helping promote the game of baseball in the communities involved. by @tclbaseball

The Texas Collegiate League mourns the loss of legendary baseball coach Skip Bertman.

The TCL extends its deepest condolences to the Bertman family following the passing of one of the most influential coaches in the history of college baseball.

Coach Bertman spent 18 seasons as the head baseball coach at LSU from 1984–2001, building the Tigers into one of the nation’s premier programs. During his legendary tenure, he led LSU to five national championships, 11 College World Series appearances, seven SEC championships, and an incredible 870-330-3 record.

Before LSU, Bertman spent eight seasons at the University of Miami, where he served as an associate head coach and pitching coach under Hall of Fame coach Ron Fraser. He helped the Hurricanes reach five College World Series and played a significant role in building Miami into a national baseball powerhouse.

His impact on the game extended well beyond wins and championships. Coach Bertman mentored generations of players and coaches and helped shape the careers of countless people throughout the baseball community.

That legacy has a special connection to the Texas Collegiate League. His grandson, Ezra Bertman, proudly represented the Baton Rouge Rougarou in the TCL.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ezra, the entire Bertman family, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and learning from Coach Bertman.

The baseball world has lost a legend, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the game he helped make better.

Rest in peace, Coach Bertman. ⚾️
