Bigger isn’t always better… In this very cool set piece by @tony.dibernardo we invoked the spirit of the plays namesake and made it into its own little stage. Lots of great angles and fun challenges for the fabricators. Check out Tony’s page for a great animation of his process. In the center of Hudson Yards, New York City, stands a honeycomb-like structure known simply as the Vessel. After its unveiling in 2019, this 150-foot interactive art installation was repeatedly shut down, becoming an unexpected and controversial viral obsession. See "Tosca" on Aug 7 and be swept away by this gorgeous, new multi-media production, featuring @washnatopera Orchestra and @childrenschorusdc! 🎶 Delighted to be working with the Wolf Trap Opera again. The design by @motendesigns included a massive LED surround. A showstopper of a piece with intricate details, set electrics and heavy distressing. The paint team was rightfully proud of this piece as it turned out beautifully. by @tcsnyc

Laughter meets revolutionary spirit in @bostonlyricopera's staging of Donizetti's beloved comedy, Daughter of the Regiment. When you build opera, you know it has to be BIG. In collaboration with scenic designer Liliana Duque Piñeiro, our team fabricated towering foliage pieces, each rigged on separate set lines to create the depth and sweeping canopy of a majestic American elm. At stage level, we built a steel-and-wood tree structure, finished with custom-carved foam to form its massive trunk and base. The production was completed with a beautifully painted floor and an impressive steel manor house structure that anchored the scenic world. Tickets are on sale now! by @tcsnyc

As scenery and props do their job night after night, they eventually need a little care—or a complete rebuild. That couldn't be more true for The Play That Goes Wrong. Physical comedy at its finest is bound to leave its mark. One answer could save you. Or ruin you. Get your first look at Are You Now or Ever Have Been? Centered around the McCarthy hearings, this production features a set designed by @andrewboycedesign that immerses audiences in the hearing room itself. Nearly every surface is designed to receive projections, creating an atmosphere that steadily builds tension throughout the performance. One of the biggest fabrication challenges was creating the 11-inch-tall custom crown molding on an ellipse to precisely match the curved walls of the hearing room—a project that combined CNC machining with custom foam carving to achieve the final result. If you didn’t get a chance to catch The Zionists @thezionistsplay at The Colony Theater in Miami with @miaminewdrama, no need to worry — you’ll have another opportunity at @barringtonstage. Designed by Adam Koch @instadamkoch, this production gave us the chance to create extensive wood grain and limestone treatments, practical set electrics, and oh yeah… a tree falls through the roof in the middle of the show. It was a blast figuring out how to make that gag — and a few others — work in service of the drama of this play. A prominent Jewish family, fractured by the politics and aftermath of October 7, gathers for a fragile reunion at a luxury Caribbean resort. But as a sudden hurricane bears down outside their bungalow, an even fiercer storm erupts within — forcing them to confront old wounds, clashing values, and the ties that may no longer bind them. In this urgent and deeply human world premiere from acclaimed playwright S. Asher Gelman (Afterglow), The Zionists lays bare how identity, politics, and history can tear families apart — and the struggle to hold them together in an increasingly divided world. It’s been busy, so we’re a little late to post about MY JOY IS HEAVY. But we really enjoyed working with designer Lee Jellinek (@ljellinek2025) and the fine folks at New York Theatre Workshop (@nytw79) to bring this to life. This set presented some great challenges—creating a home from two different points of view in time. On one side, we have the past, with worn-down boards and older construction: on the other, renovations and new beginnings. We also took great care in treating all the raw wood with fire-retardant materials to ensure it was safe for the theater. A raucous, funny, and tender indie-folk-punk show about grief and healing. This transcendent musical memoir by Obie-winning duo and NYTW Usual Suspects The Bengsons (Hundred Days, The Keep Going Songs) is a deeply personal portrait of the unexpected joys and humor forged in the wake of loss. Tony Award winner and NYTW Usual Suspect Rachel Chavkin (Hadestown; Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) directs, with choreography by Princess Grace Award winner and NYTW Usual Suspect Steph Paul (How to Defend Yourself) and music supervision by Obie Award winner Or Matias (Grey House). When a billionaire obsessed with immortality funds radical aging research, ethical lines blur, power dynamics implode, and a shocking secret comes to light—one that turns the quest for longer life into a chilling examination of identity, consent, and what it really means to be human. Brutalism, mixed with the cold and sterile nature of a laboratory, sets the tone for SPARE PARTS. Even before reading the synopsis of the play, you get an eerie sense from this stark design by @scottpennerdesigns. We really enjoyed building this set, as well as the huge lightbox at center stage. One of the most rewarding experiences in our line of work is seeing the final product so closely resemble the concepts and models created by the designer. Its official! @maccosmetics is at @sephora!!! This project started when our friend and colleague @jaacquelinec_ (aka the boss 😉) introduced us to designer @sayokoosada and production company @theumbrellanyc. In this project we transformed @storied.nyc into a highway and all roads lead to MAC x Sephora. We built road signs, billboards and a beautiful newsstand, but the most fun was the interactive phone booth. In the phone booth you not only get the experience of an old school pay phone, but you could also dial for product and samples would dispense at the bottom of the phone. It was a great event to celebrate the launch of MAC at Sephora. Shout out to all the great photogs that covered this event. BIGFOOT! is a larger-than-life musical tale of corrupt politicians, small-town paranoia and misunderstood youth. Of course, that youth happens to be eight feet tall, innocent, and in dire need of electrolysis. TCS teamed up with MTC again to bring to life the design of @timmackabeedesign. Without giving too much away, some of the elements for this show include a strip club, barbed wire fences, glow in the dark trees, and even walking on the moon.
