Momma,

I love you so much. I've come to accept that everything happens for a reason, even if the "why" may never be answered.

When people normally think of suffering, it's a negative thing. I mean, in theory an existence without suffering is pretty much the idea of heaven, which is pure good. So wouldn't that mean suffering is bad?

You being gone 4 years has taught me how suffering can shift one's mentality on life in ways I didn't even think was possible. I want you to know that I've chosen to have a healthy, forward thinking mindset.

Suffering, in the past, I would run away from. A little after you passed, I made a decision to change myself. I want you to know that I have built self-awareness, my mindset has changed over time to appreciate the pain, because it prompts a shift in my coping. I can either engage with my learned coping skills and enact positive changes, or not. I have come out of this with the mindset that suffering is temporary. I just keep doing the right thing, for you and for myself. The light at the end of the tunnel continues to get bigger. The pain is subsiding.

Yeah, there are days when I think too much, I put some pressure on myself and others towards what I deem is correct or right. Then I remember what you battled, and what you taught me- All that you gave to our family. That's all I need to think of to feel the push back into a mindset and shift back into a day at a time. I immediately feel grateful and at peace. I know you're at peace, too. I love you momma. We all miss you so much.

Not a day goes by where I don't wish you were here. The pain can bring progress. What I do with it is the choice I am faced with every day. by @tdacey_cagebombs
