How do we reach a city like New York?

It’s big. It’s complicated. It’s hard. The opportunities are endless, but so are the challenges.

We may not have all the answers, but one thing we know for sure is that we can’t do it alone.

How do we reach the greatest city in the world? We do it together.

We’re building something bigger than any one of us, and by God’s grace, we’re just getting started.

Sunday starts on Saturday 🙌

“PRE-DECISION” is one of the greatest habits you can develop for spiritual growth and personal success.

Set boundaries before temptation comes.
Make commitments before other options are presented.
Decide today who you want to be tomorrow.

The decisions you make in advance will determine the direction of your life.

And here’s something worth celebrating: When you decide on Saturday that you’re going to worship on Sunday, you’ve already taken a step of faith.

Choices lead. Feelings follow.

So make the decision today. Your future self will thank you.

So pastors JUST preach every week? 😅

The reality is preaching and sermon prep is maybe 15% of leading a church. The rest is pastoring people and leading an organization. CEO. Counselor. Fundraiser. HR. Theologian. Wedding officiant. Prayer warrior. And a whole lot more.

Especially at the beginning, you wear every hat. Today I'm so thankful we have people way more gifted than me carrying a lot of these roles. That's a gift.

Nobody is naturally good at all of that. But here's the good news. God doesn't call the qualified, he qualifies the called.

Every hat you wear, He gives grace for. His grace is sufficient for you!

Pastors, don't grow weary in doing good. You're not doing this in your own strength.

You're graced for it. Keep building. 🙌

Thank you, Vision Builders.

Grace is the gap between where we are and where God is calling us to go. We don’t close that gap on our own strength. We’re graced for it.

This Sunday I’m preaching on it, and sharing a little of what Kristen and I talked about at Vision Builders Night.

When you look back at the story of your life, you’ll see mountaintops and valleys. The good and the bad. But the lens through which you see your story matters.

12 years ago, Kristen and I moved to New York City to pastor a church. Honestly, it all felt impossible.

New York felt impossible.
Planting felt impossible.
Building the church felt impossible.

Then we lost our building in a flood. That felt impossible.

Then the church began to explode with growth. Then the pandemic hit, and suddenly everything felt insurmountable.

But through it all, the Lord kept telling us to keep building, keep loving people, and keep serving our city.

And looking back, I realize something. We didn’t just persevere through the hard seasons. We genuinely loved the journey.

Not because it was easy, but because we were graced for it. Every step of the way.

Here’s what I’ve learned: God will always give you everything you need to do everything He’s called you to do.

The resources. The energy. The relationships. The creativity. The anointing.

His grace is sufficient.

You’re graced for it.

Find a local church. Get in the room. Let people know you, pray with you, and walk with you.
