John came and took ninnie home. I’ve been at a loss for words. Not knowing what to say, having too much to say, and afraid of saying the wrong things. So, I have stayed relatively silent and it has weighed heavily on my heart. Her story deserves to be shared. I have no intentions of properly eulogizing her. I couldn’t possibly do her justice. However, I do wish to share how she made me feel while she was with us. After all, as John green wrote “funerals are for the living” and as is grief. As for grandma, she no longer feels the sting of grief. She is home with john. Something I have continually reminded myself of since she left us.
I loved listening to my grandmother tell me stories about the life she had led. Her father was a pianist for Colleen Carroll (Garth brooks mother) and she bartended at what seemed like a popular spot for many country singers within Tulsa who she would serve. Including Conway twitty, who she regularly babysat for. She would tell you a story once, and you’d better remember it because she wasn’t likely to repeat it. It was as if her whole life was a book that rarely turned its pages and hardly whispered its secrets. She would leave you questioning many years later weather she had actually told you those insane things or if your memory was playing tricks on you. Because her stories were insane, Wild, and ornery, but I knew they were full of truth so I did my best to keep up and memorize the details. Many of these stories are too wild to share here. And I wished I remembered every single one. As she said during her last bingo game “keep up bitches” advice I apparently received too late. Nobody could keep up with you ninny, and nobody with common sense would dare try. I will miss you dearly, you beautiful, pink haired lady. I will never let go. I cannot wait to see you again on the other side. by @teaaleise
