Kristin is a tenacious advocate for secure firearm storage, working to ensure that no other family endures a tragedy that could have been prevented.

One of her initiatives is Trust Talk: Teen to Teen, free lessons for middle- and high-school students addressing how brains shape their choices, how safety laws like secure gun storage protect lives, and how to stay calm, think clearly, and support friends in real-life situations.

It’s been a week since Ben and I presented on gun violence prevention and trauma informed practices that support students and schools not just in the wake of gun violence, but everyday. It was such an honor to speak on behalf of @teachersunify and to present again at my absolute favorite conference ever, @nnstoy’s National Teacher Leadership Conference.

I can’t stop thinking about our presentation - most specifically, the attendees. Their faces when they heard Ben’s story. Their comments and stories of gun violence in and around their schools. The worries and fears of their students. It was powerful and heartbreaking, and I feel grateful to @nnstoy for giving us the space to use our voices to say no more to gun violence ❤️ by @teachersunify

📣 We are proud to announce this month’s Community Meeting guests — Robin Fox and Kristin Song, co-creators of Trust Talk: Teen to Teen.

Kristin tragically lost her son Ethan to an unsecured firearm in January 2018. Since then, she has been a dedicated advocate for secure firearm storage laws, working to ensure that no other family endures a tragedy that could have been prevented.

Robin Fox is an educator, consultant, and author with more than 45 years of experience serving students in grades K–12 across public and private schools.

Trust Talk is a series of three lessons designed to give middle- and high-school students tools to make the safe calls in tough situations. Through these free lessons, young people learn how their brains shape their choices, why safety laws like secure gun storage protect lives, and how to stay calm, think clearly, and support friends in real-life situations.Join us to discuss what it’s like to bring conversations like these into the classroom.
