A Teacher Remembered

This morning, I received a message from a former colleague. She shared that one of her students had randomly asked her to reach out and thank me for believing in their graduating class.
The truth is, I haven’t taught this student in years.

As I read the message, tears filled my eyes. It was a powerful reminder that we often never know the full impact of the seeds we plant, the encouragement we give, or the belief we show in others. Long after the lessons are forgotten, people remember how we made them feel.
Impact matters. So today, I leave you with this question: How will you be remembered?

Who do my daughters and students say I am? Who am I you may ask?

Hello and welcome. I am Judy-Ann, an educator, author, literacy specialist, and lifelong learner who is passionate about helping children, teachers, and school leaders thrive.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with schools, educators, and families across different countries and cultures. I believe that growth happens in the everyday moments, the conversations we have, the relationships we build, and the encouragement we give. Through my book, Mastering the Moment: 10 Keys to Classroom Victory (available on Amazon), and through the reflections I share here, my hope is to inspire, support, and uplift others on their journey.

Some teachers teach a lesson. Others become part of your story.

The first photo is my Grade 6 teacher. Last year, she spent her 70th birthday with me. Looking at this photo, I remember her kindness. Her warmth. The way she made me feel seen.

Decades later, that feeling remains.

The second photo is me with the 2023 cohort, honoured by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. I remember our conversation. He asked how long I had been here, where I taught, where I was from — and then he thanked me for my service.

Those words stayed with me.

Because behind every lesson is a teacher who showed up.
Behind every achievement is someone who believed.
Behind every student who found their voice is often a teacher who first saw it.

Teachers, we see you.
We value you.
We thank you.
