👏🌟Exciting news for Philly teachers! Earlier this month, the Philadelphia Citywide Talent Coalition came together with the Mayor’s Office to address the critical teacher shortage in Philadelphia. Philadelphia’s education system serves nearly 200,000 students who need quality instruction from educators, but schools struggle every year to fill these vacancies. The Philadelphia Citywide Talent Coalition is uniting schools, community partners, and other stakeholders to create a diverse, robust teacher workforce to serve Philly students.

We must act quickly, as ‘One Philly’, to ensure all students get the education they deserve. To learn more about the Coalition and its goals, check out the full article here: https://elevate215.org/news/citywide-talent-coalition-takes-action-to-tackle-the-citys-teacher-shortage/

Through the Real World Learning (RWL) Program, students connect their education to career opportunities in their communities, developing the skills and confidence to thrive beyond the classroom. Across Big Picture’s Vaux (@vaux_bphs) and El Centro (@el_centro_philly) campuses, students can explore career pathways in early childhood education, phlebotomy, electrical trades, and culinary arts.

⭐ Meet Philly’s future educators!

At Central High School (@centralalumni), 14 students are exploring what it means to become an educator through the Future Educators Program—a year-long elective that examines teaching as both a profession and a pathway to creating positive change.

Through critical discussions, community engagement and hands-on experiences, students explore education, equity, identity, and civic engagement while considering how teachers can help create more inclusive learning spaces.

💬For junior Ethan Thomas, the program creates space for students to learn from one another. "Through this course, students get to thoroughly talk about their educational experiences and review others to better explain how people's experiences can help bolster one's teaching skills."
