In fact, it’s better if your art is uniquely yours and expresses your unique voice! I love pastel artists that are super detailed and those that are impressionistic but mine is its own character and that’s okay! #softpastels #pastelpainting #pastelartist by @tealizzy_art

I hated this paper at first but after taking some time to get to know it, I think we’ve come to an understanding. 😆 I do love the size and the feel of it…the weight makes it feel luxurious. If you’re thinking of trying it, here are some tips that helped me work with it better! #artjourney #softpastels #pastelpainting #pastelartist by @tealizzy_art

Yes, the aesthetic, pretty art journals are tempting, but a very inexpensive mixed media notebook is all you need to get started with oil pastels! I bought one for me and one for my daughter so we could keep our weekend Mommy/Daughter Oil Pastel Time paintings all together in one place. This paper works really well for oil pastels…I’m able to get several layers down, but I would get good pastel paper with more tooth if you’re working with soft pastels! Looking forward to adding more art to this little book! #oilpastels #pastelpainting #sketchbook #pastelartist by @tealizzy_art

I took another fabulous class from @rebeccademendonca.artist yesterday and again, learned so much! This is my second class EVER. I’ve been a self-taught artist, watching and learning from posts on social media but Rebecca’s classes are really leveling me up. I used a lot of what I learned about light through the trees in her last class to create two recent forest pieces. She packs so much technique into 2 hours and I’m always absolutely shocked at what I create in that amount of time. No time for overthinking, just following along! In yesterday’s class, I learned a lot about light on the water and how to create see-through water in this piece. 💖 So thankful Rebecca continues to offer these - her next one is on 11/2! #artjourney #softpastels #pastelpainting #pastelartist by @tealizzy_art

Feeling grateful for how far I’ve come! This little oil pastel is from my Mommy/Daughter weekend oil pastel time and this little ritual has really allowed me to make so much art and to continue playing with this medium regularly. I love how it turned out. 😊🎨💖 #artjourney #oilpastels #pastelpainting #pastelartist by @tealizzy_art

Are you brave enough to travel this path? 👻💜💙 Maybe if you had a little 🐈‍⬛ companion? I really enjoyed exploring unusual colors and shadows in this piece, continuing to practice light through trees and I really think the cat makes the piece! Black cats are the best! 🐈‍⬛💖 Again, trusting the process and layering really pays off! #softpastels #pastelpainting #pastelartist by @tealizzy_art

An enchanted spooky forest art transformation! Four years of practice and a switch in mediums from watercolor to soft pastels and magic is possible! Give yourself permission to try all the mediums! The first is in traditional watercolor in 2022 when I had just picked up painting for my mental health. I guess I’ve always loved the idea of a purple spooky forest! 🐈‍⬛💜👻 #artjourney #arttransformation #watercolor #softpastels #painting by @tealizzy_art

What better companion than a black kitty to take us down this road! 🐈‍⬛💜💙👻 My first spooky piece in soft pastel and I’m loving it! I’m usually a straight up Fall girly, but this piece has me really getting into spooky season! #softpastels #pastelpainting #pastelartist by @tealizzy_art

Working on a spooky forest means I get to be whimsical and choose whatever colors I want! It’s very freeing! 👻💜💙 Follow along to see a little surprise I’m adding to this piece! #softpastels #pastelpainting #pastelartist by @tealizzy_art

This little chipmunk is ranking high for one of the cutest 🥰 animals I’ve painted with soft pastels! This piece came together fairly easy - I’m trying to go for semi-realistic but still soft and I’m enjoying sort of a blurred out background, very similar to a photo - it really makes the subject pop! I love how this has become a series - this is #4! I have a fox started next so follow along if you love woodland animals and Fall vibes! 🍁🍂 #softpastels #pastelpainting #pastelartist by @tealizzy_art
