A God Wink 🤍 You see this beautiful picture, but what you don’t know is that before arriving at this shoot, I cried my eyes out because my hair had started falling out, edges and all. Before the shoot, I shared what I was going through with our photographer. After the shoot, she and her assistant prayed over DJ and me. When I tell y’all she was nearly face down on the floor crying out to God! I was in tears. She had no idea the weight I was carrying, but she was obedient to God in that moment. What was supposed to be a photoshoot turned into another reminder that God is STILL keeping me. TEAL Sista checkin’ in… Grateful for the opportunity to attend the NFL’s Crucial Catch cancer awareness event here in Charlotte! As a survivor, advocate, and someone currently navigating cancer treatment again, moments like this mean a little more. The event highlighted the importance of cancer awareness, including prostate cancer, and reminded us that these conversations matter for everyone. Cancer awareness goes beyond one month, one diagnosis, and one community. Thankful for spaces that continue to bring awareness and encourage early detection. TEAL Sista checkin’ in… Finally out of the post-chemo slump! This has been my flow this time around. Allowing my body to tell me when it’s ready to get out of bed, resting when needed, and not forcing anything. Now I’m catching up on texts, emails, and everything in between because that brain fog during days 1–6 after chemo is NO JOKE! I usually get about two weeks where things feel “back to normal” before it’s time to do it all over again. I wasn’t expecting it to happen this fast, but surprisingly, I feel FREEEEEE! One less thing to worry about. One less thing to hold on to. As Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month comes to an end, I’m just grateful. September is my birthday month. A month of celebrating life, even when life looks different than I imagined. Yesterday, I noticed my hair is starting to shed, and that makes this all feel a little more real. But I’m still here. Still becoming. Still grateful. And that’s enough for me today. Forget things you thought you’d never forget. Some days you feel everything. Some days you feel nothing. Grief is loss. A God Wink 🤍 Everyone knows how much I love @gamecockwbb. During my first treatment, my nurse was wearing a Gamecock hoodie. I asked her about it and she told me she was a graduate. On the SAME day, @staley05 sent a message through @sportsiren letting me know she was praying for me. Like…what are the chances? 🥹 Both happened on a day where I needed a little reminder that God was right there with me. It’s the winks from God. The little reminders that He sees me, He hears me, and I’m covered. The overwhelming amount of donations, gifts, love, prayers, and support I’ve received from you all has truly been felt. TEAL Sista checkin’ in… I have been brought back to a familiar road. After learning that my ovarian cancer had returned for the fourth time, I underwent major surgery back in July. Being here again has brought many emotions. My faith has been shaken, I’ve had questions, and some days have been harder than others. But even in the uncertainty, I’m choosing to keep trusting God.
